The rush is on for each of us to choose who we will be voting for in 08’. The more I read/hear about the candidates, the more I can’t help thinking, we are doing this all wrong.

I guess I don’t understand why, in a country full of people, we have limited ourselves to an option of only a select few.

I don’t understand why, they come to us, telling us what they will do for us; instead of us telling them what we will do for us. I mean, this is about us, isn’t it?

So I was wondering, if this were BK, and you could have it your way; how would we be choosing a “President”? (I prefer, “Lead Representative”.)

Edited to add: Well, maybe not all wrong, but perhaps we could do much better.

I would suggest that in the past, the party nomination wasn't handled with the Primary System, and that the nomination of delegates via the local-party membership -- rolling up to the statewide delegation provided better representation of The People.

While not without it's own "Back Office Dealings" criticisms, it did IMO, provide a better candidate, and a better campaign.

Of course, the fund-raising at that point didn't happen at the National Candidate level. You contributed to your local party...
