someone! are there classes? do you need to be certified? where can i get info in santa rosa???
im in!!!

Abraxas (Master Sage) who responded earlier in this thread is the one who did it. He holds a degree in the medical field, but I am not sure what kind of certification one might need. (maybe he might know) He originally saw a demo on it at Burning Man. I'm not aware of anyone else doing this and have had no luck in finding any info on the web.

I had just gotten needles on NYE, and as far as I can see on the pictures, getting beads on wouldn't be much different.  Believe it or not after the 1st couple, it doesn't hurt. by then the endorphins have kicked in, and your flyin'  I am definately looking forward to my next 'pokies' session!

Hi zuki, it really isn't too bad...gets kind of tight feeling when you move sometimes...but not too bad. I don't think I'd do one over a joint that has a big range of motion though.

Thank you, I'm glad everyone is enjoying the pics. I will definitely post more when we do it again...I'm sure it will be more elaborate also.

hot fix rhinestone/stud  patterns would be easy to use  ,  on the left scroll down to the motifs farther down patterns
http://crafts2do.com/

line drawing another option

http://www.carvingpatterns.com/themes/dragons.htm

celtic freeware designs http://www.aon-celtic.com/free/cfreewarecliparts.html

look around from clip art or line drawings
http://butterflywebsite.com/clipart/constructtable.cfm

You can try the designs on paper and  use a light water soluble glue to paste plastc beads on the paper to see what pattern would look like with water base glue you can re use the beads

M and I have done beading, on me and I've beaded a few bottoms. We don't use suturing thread (though it seems obvious on retrospect), but a plastic coated beading wire, piercing with a needle then feeding the wire through the needle tip, then remove the needle, add the bead, and repeat.

I don't have any really good photos of a finished pattern but an unfinished pattern (the bottom couldn't handle more piercing) can be seen here:
http://home.satx.rr.com/elorin/av/beading.jpg

More traumatic technique as you use low gauge needles instead of suturing needle, and lends itself more to geometric shapes and wide curves.

damn, that sucks...

I would like to show those to someone that might be interested in having it done, not by me mind you I still have not done needles yet, but I have someone in mind that I think would be interested in doing that to someone

erin you ARE certainly a masochist!
I have never designs and feathers before, but

never beadwork.
I cringe when I look at those pictures.

greetings erin,

this is awesome! i'd actually never heard of this before - i've heard of play piercing which i guess is very much related although i don't know too much about it. i have a couple of body piercings and was just thinking the other day that when i go get tattoos next week i want to get more - not because i particularly want anything pierced but just because it's fun. maybe this is a way to stem my addiction, hehehehe. thank you for sharing! learn something new every day :)

respectfully,
annabelle.

I have heard of this sort of thing and would love to try it.  I'm thinking you are a masochist (?), but could you give a 1-10 scale of how much it might hurt for someone who was not?  I'm going to a piercing demo this weekend.  I wonder if anything like that will be going on...hm.

CalifChick, thank you for your mail. LOL, I am a certified Dialysis tech and phlebomist. You are correct I should have had smaller gloves. I did the best with what they had on hand. The site was well cleansed and betadine swabs were used and allowed to dry first. Site was cleansed with alcohol post bead work. They were not sterile just clean. I realize that there was no need for sterile gloves. Thank you for your concern.

It's really hard for me to say because I really don't feel pain the same way as most people do. I would have put it about a "2"....but I know that is probably not what would be considered a "normal" response. It's an odd thing though because needles produce an endorphin rush very quickly so you really don't feel it much once that starts.
