There's a teaching trend I've been noticing in my own community for awhile that says we have to change our gloves every time we touch something, like putting down one thing and picking up another. Every time the instructor for the demo changes gloves, they get some out of an open box of gloves, which are clean and probably aseptic but certainly not sterile. Creating a false sense of security seems like a bad idea to me.
If we were doing invasive surgery, like going opening up the skin and exposing muscle and other tissue beneath it, I can understand people going nuts about sterile technique, but that's less of an issue in the BDSM scene and more of an issue in the body mod community.
I think I'd like to see some classes on anatomy in my community. I'm beginning to think I'll have to go to nursing school just to learn the things I want to learn. ; )
