Dear Asherdelampyr, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I only know of S&M101 by Jay Wiseman.

Screw the Roses-Give me the thorns by Master Phil Miller and molly devon

You may wish to research the "Leather Archives" for reading matterials--I believe the library will be at the Master-slave conference in 2008, near Washington, DC in the Maryland suburbs.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Already got enough books to read anyway, (9 so far), but thanks

Asherdelampyr -> RE: looking for resources (1/12/2008 11:03:20 PM)

I've read S&M 101 as well as The Loving Dominant so far. Currently reading The Ethical Slut, then after that all the rest (depending on when my book orders go through) Thanks to all for their help!

Why read books instead of follow what you think is good?
Not that reading and learning is bad. But sometimes you see people mention...i read the gor books...now i am a Master or kajira..... but there is more about it ofcourse.

anyway..i gonna get soem of the books too ;)

2 Reasons

1) I work graves in a callcenter, needless to say im not really that busy, so I need to do something to keep me occupied. I love to read, so this works. (and no, im not worried about my boss finding out im *kinky* or whatever the hip phrase is. He hired me for my computer knowledge, not for my lifestyle choices.)
2) I know what I want, I know more or less, how to get there. What I dont know is how to do really fancy rope bondage, or make a good solid paddle, etc. Im not looking for books to tell me how to live, or how to be dominant. Just how to have more fun *topping* someone. Im reading to gain skills that I dont have.

Sorry if that sounded assholish. Im just really damn tired

Thats me all over. with the almost psychotic need to be understood when I bother to say anything :P also, if anyone knows of any good books on japanese rope bondage I would be very grateful.

ASide from all your reading, you might want to start conversations with people who have knowledge in these areas. Granted, with your wierd hours at work anything but email tag might be difficult for a while, but after reading a book, there is little better than having a conversation with someone actively involved with that subject. They know which parts work as well as they should, which dont, and they have probably learned a good bit beyond the scope of the book through experience and experimentation.
Being the soft spoken type is not uncommon. I have only raised my voice to Fox because he has trouble hearing sometimes. Never out of anger.
You might also want to make a list of your favorites, and whatever you find most useful. Two reasons. A) if anyone ever asks for this sort of help again, you can be the one to chime in and say "Hey, these worked for me." and B) when you finally find someone you want to sub to you you can have them read up on some of the things youd liketo try as well.

Just my 2 semi-sleepy cents
DV

Both of those suggestions make sense. I am currently working on the first (by trying to get into the *hidden SLC scene*)
As for the second, thats actually something I do anyway, no matter the subject (seriously, ask about computers or religion sometime, see what happens:P)
