Generally speaking, tattoos are more permanent than brandings.  Generally.

There was some movie I saw once that had a branding scene @ a fraternity. I think it was a horror flick, but I don't remember the specifics.

All the pledges were lined up and told they were going to be branded as the final proof of dedication to the frat and they had to be to gain entrance. I think some left and a few said they'd go through with it.

It was all a ruse. They had two branding irons. One was red hot and the other (unbeknownst to the pledges) was in a bucket of ice water. Instead of actually branding them, the guys in charge would plunge the hot one into the ice water (causing it to steam and crackle) while simultaneously "branding" the pledge with the cold one. It sure sounded like they were being burnt, and it's amazing how the sensations of extreme hot and extreme cold can be difficult to distinguish.

I plan on doing this at some point, for grins.

i'll be happy to. i read on here from time to time Dominants who collar immediately and Dominants who brand a sub they have not known for very long. i have always wondered why that was. do you know? All the sub's respnses on here have been wonderful, but i was also want to hear from the Dominants too.

When i first met my Owner he told me that if in a year and  everything goes well with us. I will collar you. We then decided that a personal tatoo of our choosing when the time came would work for us.

So my question is what is a Dominants opinion on other Dominants that brand when they haven't know a sub for very long. i am not asking anyone to judge, because each person is different. i am just asking for personal opinions. Thanks.

i have read that cold brands are more effective than hot brands. Enjoy!

It was a bit crazy, and all three of us like marks and branding. It was an incredibly bonding experience, and it really did make Kat a permanent part of our lives.

Here's the thing - I don't think six months is too soon, especially considering your background and wealth of experience (not that it's any of my business anyway! lol).  I was thinking more along the lines of when someone's in that first rush of excitement within a relationship and dashes out to get a permanent symbol of them on their body without really knowing whether it's going to work out.  I'm glad it did for you!

That's interesting, I never knew that, I would have thought brandings were permenant because od scaring. I've learned something, ty. :).

I read about a similar technique in a "how to" type book on BDSM a few years ago.

Halloween, it depends on how deep and large the brand is and how much a person's skin scars from a wound.

To answer your first question I have no idea why, it's not something I'd do personally but I prefer to take time to get to know someone and for them t get to know Me and hopefully buid trust but if that's what some want to do then It none of My beeswax lol.

Good luck with your branding, I wish you and Yours well. :).

Thanks so much and You too. You sound like someone who really has their head on straight. Take care.

takenbyjohnr07 -> RE: Branding (1/11/2008 1:18:51 PM)

i've also heard that the hotter it is the longer it stays.

Tyvm, that's really nice of you. As for My head, it's not screwed on that tight, the bolts are worn and I can't afford new ones.

<remembers being restrained to the play bed terrified out of my mind while Mistress plays with the ice and fire>

I loved You would give me a mind fuck Mistress, it was such an adrenaline rush.

I think i remember seeing that movie, i remember that part and the people who were "branded" passed out because of the fear, and when they woke up they were freaked out and found out they wernt. Or was it a Vietnam war movie, i remember a scene where that happened, i definalty held my breath.

No kidding! Kat's brand is fading already...but she is part Wolverine.

CalifChick -> RE: Branding (1/11/2008 10:59:26 PM)

I can still see mine after 20 years, but you cannot tell what it is, it just looks like a scar.  And a pretty faded one at that.

christine1 -> RE: Branding (1/12/2008 12:03:19 AM)

getting branded is a very big deal to me as i'm terrified of fire or extreme heat...my skin is very sensitive and marks very easily.  if i were in the right relationship with a dominant that i loved and watned to be with for the rest of my life, i might consider it.  otherwise it is a big NO, as i don't care to be marked by a "transient" person in my life.
