bipolarber -> RE: "Mood Music" (1/12/2008 10:14:24 AM)

My scenes tend to be a bit more moody, rather than just thrash and bash... so I go for a lot of "new age" or "space" music... I find most of my titles by listening to/recording "Music From the Hearts of Space" on NPR. The stuff they program during the fall is especially appropriate, dark and meloncholic. For lighter impact play, I'll go for seminal techno, like "Eat Static" or "Gulf Breeze" It keeps things moving, without a lot of lyrics to distract from the scene itself. Then, there's music from the movies: Mix CD's made from tracks of various films have always gone over well... Lot's of Bernard Hermann, and Jerry Goldsmith and Shirley Walker and Danny Elfmann (the "Nightbreed" soundtrack, especially) Oh, and a recent discovery is Jill Tracy. She has two albums out that should be in any goth/BDSM collection: Into the Land of Phantoms, and Diabolical Streak.
