And, if I remember, people were it seemed honest. When you got your collar felt by the fuzz, people admitted to their crime.

Scrumping apples out of the vicar's garden, the local plod collaring us saying where we had been and what we had been doing, why, because we had been seen doing.Hey, small village, everyone notices. So, our option, a trip to the station and our father's called, or a sort it out now scenario.

Sort it out now scenario was always preferable.A time to eat humble pie and apologise to the vicar and get a cuffing from the constable, with a promise that seeing as we were grown up enough to receive a cuffing after apologising for our misdemeanours, nothing would be said to our fathers whom he drank with in the pub at night.

We always had the apples though.

Aww.  From the title, I was expecting something existential!

Anyhow, it's neat to see that thing again.  I think it's been around for some years now.

How is it with you?

Edit:  Ah, I get it.  :P

I was born in the '80's, so I'm too young for this to apply to me.

Meh, only some sexual harrassment stuff.  Like, back in Florida, in middle school, some lady came to our classroom and explained how we would have to go to court if we stood between a girl and a door in a manner that might be interepreted as blocking her way out, even if that wasn't the case.  I remember thinking that the lady was the true rapist, trying to scare kids to advance her own agendas.

I feel like we're getting more rights, but that's probably influenced by the change of age catigories (since people get rights increasing with age).  The computer restrictions, though, are the ones I note.  More and more things are becoming illegal with technology, from music copyrights to types of hentai to allowable software to distribution demands.  Not all of it's bad.. I'm damn glad hackers have increasingly few loopholes and I can see arguments for the other things.. though I do have concerns about a Big Brother-type thing arising, as seems inevitable at this point.

FR

I've seen it before, and alot of the things mentioned were things we survived IN SPITE OF ourselves.  It wasn't better.  Riding your bike without a helmet?  Sure, we all did it.  Do helmets save kids? Of course they do. Should we go back to the way it was then?  Of course not.

We survived IN SPITE OF the lead paint.  Doesn't mean that kids didn't get sick because of it, lose IQ points because of it, etc.  It means that we either didn't know about it, or no one was making a big enough stink about it.
