I'd second that, LA. My job in media relations can be stressful as hell sometimes, especially when dealing with a few certain snarky reporters. But it doesn't make me more Dominant, and I've never had a submissive thought in my enormous cortices!

Obligatory on-topic note: I am very assertive in my job, and it can be stressful when dealing with idiots (that whole outsourcing thread comes to mind). Sometimes at the end of the day I just don't want to have to make even one more decision. I don't know whether that correlates to making me MORE submissive, but I do know it makes me more TIRED. lol.

Personally, being stressed outside the home makes me probably more of a bottom wanting a good purging. It does not make me more submissive. I mean, really....to have to come home after "one of those days" just to take care of yet someone else doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun in my books.

My job is stressful to say the least (911 dispatcher for 28 firedepartments and 8 ambulance services) at work I am very much an A-type personality, I can multitask like you wouldn't beleive and I have no problem telling those who most see as authority figures (police officer's, paramedics) how to get to someplace or what they need to do next. A bad day for me usually means an even worse day for someone else. At the end of it, it's not so much about 'feeling' more submissive, that is just a part of the many things that make me who I am but there is alot of joy in being able to let that side out and not have to worry about life or death decisions.

I find release in play as well, it's very cathartic but I also feel an incredible amount of joy and peace in just being held and allowed to give the authority away for a while, to let go of the side of me that has to be very much in control.

I find that I go either way. It just depends on why it was so stressful.

My thoughts exactly... i find it difficult to "change modes" between work and home after a bad day (and sometimes difficult to change modes if i'm dealing with something at home that's pissing me off, like a car repair gone bad)... but MAN does it leave me wanting a beating.

It took a me quite some time, and demoting myself (claim rep) actually, to leave the work stress at work. I was a BITCH....well maybe I still am, but no where near the level I was while doing investigation and settlements.

I can come home and tell Him and um that they need to keep the hell away and they do. Thankfully since the moving down the food chain it rarely happens now.
