The only real phobia I have is being a passenger in a car. I can't do it, it drives me absolutely nuts.

oh i know this one a little, it's like when i'm in the car with my grandmother and i keep pushing the imaginary gas pedal on the passenger side because she drives so slowly?  or when i push the imaginary break pedal because she doesn't pay attention and almost rear ends the car in front of her?  hehe

It's like that I suppose, but a hell of a lot more intense.

Having a "logical mind" I'm really not "afraid" of anything.
Not even death because everyone goes through it.
Also, I've done many things in my life and once you get through them you realise that it's not that bad, the anticipation is probably a lot worse than the act itself.
I love to fly, I always get the window seat, I've sailed over the Puerto Rican trench, one of the deepest parts of the Atlantic many times, I've been in 45 foot seas for 2 days 100 miles east of Burmuda, I was a Firefighter for 2 years and gone into burning buildings, two idiots tried to rob me one time and I maced them and kicked their teeth out (blood all over my boots) and after I got away I said to myself later, "Shit! You should have robbed (them!)" "You Idiot!"
That was a "scary" experience but those toothless fucks are extremely lucky that I didn't have a gun on me because I surely would have killed them.
I was half drunk anyway and probably wasn't smart enough to be afraid.
It's funny what people are afraid of!
If you think it through  like a math problem or something like that there's really not a lot to be afraid of in life.

-i'm afraid of losing my young ones to something before they lose me to the natural process of life.
-i'm afraid of not being able to provide for their needs.
-i'm afraid of what their lives will be like after i am gone, especially the one who will be unable to care for himself.
-i am absolutely terrified of heights, the ex took me up on the top of the building he used to manage and at 42 stories in the air i was flipping out.  i could feel the building sway in the breeze!  i could not get within 6 ft of the edge of the building without feeling like i was going to fall off.  his best friend thought it was funny to sit on the edge and dangle his feet over the side.  still gives me the willies to think of it.
-i am afraid of spiders, but much less so than i used to be.  my parents still laugh about my reaction when i was 3 and sitting on the potty and saw a spider on the bathtub right next to me.  they swear they didn't know a little one could run that fast with her drawers around her ankles, screaming bloody murder all the way.  40 years later and i still haven't lived it down and probably never will.  i wonder which stories i'll enjoy torturing the young ones with as they get older!

I said something different in my first post... I wasn't thinking.... I have no little ones but I do have daughters and a grandson... Every night I pray for their health and happiness…
That is my greatest fear...my prayers will not be answered.

My phobias are closed in spaces (claustrophobia) and fear of heights (dont know the name of it.)  Even standing on a chair to change a light bulb is difficult for me. Oh and I don't like spiders and snakes either, but I'm willing to get close enough to kill them.  And I have a terrible fear of getting lost in unfamiliar territory--Wonder if there's a name for that one.
