MissA -> Writing a Personal Ad - Tips (8/27/2005 8:23:36 AM)

In my continuing quest for knowledge I ran across this webpage and given the frequent "why am I not finding anyone?" posts on the forums thought it might be worthwhile for some asking that question. This is geared toward males trying to find Dominant females but the principles are universal and they even take the time to give examples.

I want ta rip a koller about yer neck and ya can spend time on yer knees nikid giving me a blow job. If this letted is sticky I havnt cum over it and the black bits is cause I’m writtin this wiv a thumb nail dipped in tar cause one o the kids tipped the ink over ter dog. Ohh an yer’ll have ta round up sheep durin the day cause me sheep dog is in heat. Whatya say?
Ozzy”

Yes, and here's another tip: I strongly recommend not listing any and all medications you are currently taking. That kinda turns people off.

Can I just add that I've had a lot of success via vanilla ad sites, perhaps more so than via fetish ad sites. There are a lot of people out there who don't frequent places such as this who have fetish fantasies and unrealised potential. They just haven't made the connection or, if they have, they've not been brave enough to follow the path that leads them to fetish contact sites.

The best advice I have ever heard in writing was "Say what you mean, and mean what you say."

If you only write when you have something to say, and if you are true to that - if what you write is from the heart, and expresses something you are passionate about, it can't help but be good writing.

Nuke718 -> RE: Writing a Personal Ad - Tips (8/27/2005 3:42:26 PM)

Thanks MissA (and all the rest of you),

Since I tend to be cluttered in my online communications I am always looking for free advice LoL. I don't always TAKE all of the advice I am offered, but I have encorporated a lot of it over the years. Regardless, I seem to tweak or flat out change my profile often.

I mean, c'mon my interests and experiences are constantly evolving, why can't my ad?

Nuke }:-

PS- IronBear, thanks for the water comin out my nose!

One huge thing that would immediately differentiate male submissives and give them a slight bit of credibility would be to eliminate the use of any of the following words in their collarme name:

sub
slut
sissy
slave
whore
bitch

In addition, they could remove names of acts, ie:

asslicker
pissdrinkr
whippedboy
pussytungrr
toesucker

Also, stay away from "clever" license-plate type nicks that still focus on your own fantasies:

whipped4U
URslut
makemeURslv
ready4beatn
tiedNtikled

The moment I see a nickname in my inbox that has any of these cheesy, overdone, "do me now" fantasy/fetish nicks I want to puke. Unfortunately, I think many subs actually get an erection as they think of their "collarme nick" and imagine with excitement their "soon to be femdom" reading their profile and going, "Oooh! 'TrampleMYballsPLs" is available -- I sure hope he has a picture of those balls he can send me PRONTO!"

[sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif]Very funny, and very good advice except the people who need it most will probably never read it. M

Wow - you are so picky. [;)]

I just enjoy seeing a profile that makes sense and has no typos. I can't stand typos in a profile. Take some care, it's your "advertisement" to the community, in general.

I had a typo that sat for months until a Dom pointed it out to me. thank goodness. Yikes.

*heh...*
i liked your whole post, but that part made me chuckle ... even though it's one of those "sad but true" things.

Unless, of course, they are looking for someone who wants a subSlutSissySlaveWhoreBitch. Then, I would think those words might indeed be appropriate...

The rest of your post is pretty universal, but the above quote, from my experience, is simply your own personal preference, and should be taken into account by those interested in contacting you.

Given that the number of men on these personal sites far outweighs that of couples and women it's important to me that they be able to follow most of what was in the OP. Not so much the name gets me as what they choose to write.
"can i b ur slave" and "cam slut 4 ur us" don't cut it as opening messages. I get a lot of messages and in the beginning I used to reply to them all but after the umteenth one liner like the above you get fed up. I think someone can redeem themselves for poor choice of a name if they are well-written *Yeah I know you're going to say if they were well-written they wouldn't choose poorly* and show that they've taken the time to read my profile.

I also advise to avoid buzzwords and cliche. Anything with SSC, respects limits, wants both a vanilla and kink person, ongoing sentences about what Ds is supposed to be and how it's nurturing and caring and such just makes me click over.

Put YOU in your profile, what makes YOU unique, not what makes you look like you read all the right websites.
