FeetNFangs, I like you - you're funny - I knew that of all the people in this community I had to at least get a response from you - but I didn't think it'd be the silliest one. :) KR Thanks for all the responses from everybody - it's nice to know there's any interest at all. I guess, as far as the BDSM scene goes, Milwaukee is a pretty sheltered place - I hear the munches and events are far more interesting in other cities - 'round these parts, one doesn't hear much about anything beyond the basics (although I met a guy who was into quicksand once - that was something). In response to the danger factor - yes there is a danger, but it is often exagerrated (I'm sure I'm gonna' hear it for that comment). The most common thing pointed out is the amount of little bones in the feet. Well, you certainly don't want to use a baseball bat or anything, but most whips and lighter canes are ok. It's not really necessary to hit very hard because the feet are very sensitive, so the likelihood of damaging the bones is pretty negligible as long you're keeping things "safe and sane" as we all should (unless the sub has brittle bones for some reason, which is something the dom is hopefully aware of). The more thin or boney the sub's feet are, the lighter the implement should be, of course. Like anything else in BDSM, you remain mindful of what and who you're dealing with. And, of course, avoid hitting the tops of the feet with a cane because, naturally, all the bones are right there close to the surface and, not as self-apparent, it's far less erotic. The other thing I have heard discussed, as far as safety goes, is the finding that repeated beatings to the feet can break up the fatty tissue in the soles leading to future problems with the feet, ankles, and calves. This is true, but the studies are more related to the torture-type beatings administered by police and military organizations in the middle-east (bastinado is still one of the most common forms of torture of the world). But, of course, I'm really not suggesting this sort of behavior with your sub. So it's really more a danger of submitting to a stupid top, which can be a problem no matter where they're hitting you. I guess I'm not really trying to downplay this, but I've seen more panic about the danger than interest in the topic since I've been involved in BDSM. I've whipped a lot of feet in my life and have never left anyone crippled or otherwise hurt. I guess I'm just trying to illustrate in this little chunk of text (without coming off as being snide or confrontational) that I'm not a stupid top and that I trust most of the active, posting tops here are likewise not stupid. I was afraid that when I opened this discussion, I would get lots of lectures about how the feet are forbidden instead of just finding that there was more common interest than I was aware of. Anyway, I'm rambling. . . The point being, potential danger aside, it's nice to see that there's more interest than I previously thought and I appreciate everyone's comments. My intention was to open discussion about a topic that I seldom see discussed, but that is at the core of my interest in BDSM and I'm happy to see that this has happened. KR
