On Valentines day do you get Your sub something kinky or vanilla or both?

Both.

For personal reasons, I don't celebrate Valentines day. Not last year, but the year before my sub gave me a ring with two hearts on it and on each side a small diamond. It was the first time he had ever bought a ring for a woman. I am very proud to wear it as it definitely came from his heart.

I don't really make a difference between the two, but last year he bought me something "vanilla" and I expect he will again this year. It was a rose in a particular vase that, while very stupid and would sound horribly tacky, showed me that he had paid attention to me. We walked by a store display where it was being sold and I laughed, commenting that it was one of the funniest bits of Valentine's Day merchandise I'd ever seen.

We wouldn't display the vase in the living room, but I still have it with the dried rose inside. On display in our bedroom where we can see it. [:)]

Although i haven't seen it. It sounds beautifu.l and something i would pick out if i got to chose a ring.

DarkCharm -> RE: Valentines day (1/14/2008 10:03:05 AM)

I agree, I tend to do both. Often a nice dinner (not a cliched cheesy one) and the sub knows that that only forms one part of the evening. Sometimes I will keep the second part entirely secret, sometimes I'll whisper in her ear or leave a note on her chair. I use a similar approach for other large occasions.

We don't celebrate Valentine's Day.

junecleaver -> RE: Valentines day (1/14/2008 12:02:26 PM)

He got me a bunch of chocolate stuff that said 'Love bites.' last year.  Unless it's like a collar or cuffs, there's nothing kinky he would give me in general.

MamaDomme1 -> RE: Valentines day (1/14/2008 2:27:04 PM)

I don't celebrate either~~

marieToo -> RE: Valentines day (1/14/2008 2:31:00 PM)

Me either.  I used to 'celebrate' it with my ex husband.  It sort of makes me feel sad now.

I give my daughter some trinkets and candy tho.

Hottiegurl -> RE: Valentines day (1/14/2008 2:35:47 PM)

In general I go and buy roses from Costco and spread cheer amongst my neighbors.  Especially the ladies whose husbands have passed away.  I keep some for me as well.  Since I have not found anyone yet I will just go out and buy myself something kinky and then hope for something better to come my way this year.

Neither. I'm his submissive, not his girlfriend. Valentines Day doesn't really fit in with us although I usually get a box of chocolates from my father.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Valentines day (1/14/2008 3:47:59 PM)

I don't like days that someone else has decided are important.  If you love someone, you should show it every day, not just on Valentine's Day.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Valentines day (1/14/2008 4:09:15 PM)

Last year for Vd Daddy got me an engraved heart pet tag that said Daddy's baby girl. and was dated, and he bought me two stuffed toys, a tazmanian devil and a red teddybear with a white snout and pink bow and pink heart. He'll also take me out to dinner the day or two before, as a treat.

For the most part the only time that he will buy gifts for Alandra or me is at Christmas time.  Sometimes he may get us something on our birthday.  Valentine's day is not typically a day that we exchange gifts, though last year Alandra and I gave him a gift, a glass etching that symbolizes the three of us.  It was etched by a good friend of ours.  We had hoped to have it ready for Christmas, but were not able to so it became a Valentine's gift.

Have never celebrated Valentines Day with a partner; never felt the need to. I do however, send both my girls ( youngins ) flowers; and my son's a 'missing' you letter and card.

I have always done something special for the youngins on that day.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Valentines day (1/14/2008 5:25:11 PM)

I typically make a nice meal for my husband.  He loves crab legs, so it's nearly always crab legs.  He'll sit there and eat two pounds of them.  He's got it down to a science.  I also buy him a little box of chocolate and make him a sappy card.  It's not terribly different from what I do for his birthday (except I'm not foraying into the realm of home-made Black Forest Cherry Cake), but it shows him that I love him and that I know what he likes.  My son and I typically end up eating most of the chocolate, but oh well, it's the thought that counts.  [;)]

As for Valentine's Day itself, it's a generic Hallmark holiday.  But regardless of how commercial and meaningless it has become, it's still a great opportunity to show someone you love a little special attention.  Who doesn't like that?

Edited to add:  By "my son and I", I really mean I end up eating most of the chocolate.  I really shouldn't bring the wee one into it.  He can't eat that much chocolate anyway.  It's me.  I have a problem.  LOL.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Valentines day (1/14/2008 6:44:41 PM)

Depends on what's out there.  Usually we just want to spend time together and go out to lunch or dinner.  Since it's right after my birthday, and no one ever made a big deal out of VDay for me before, just knowing he's thinking of it as a special day for us is awesome.
