cyberdude611 -> New MRSA strain may be sexually-transmitted (1/14/2008 5:56:30 PM)

A new form of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) may be transferred through sexual contact, researchers say. So far the strain seems to be more transferable with male homosexual contact. And it seems to be following the path that the HIV virus took to spread in the population. MRSA is a Staph bacteria that is resistant to most antibiotics and can only be fought with certain antibiotics through an IV. MRSA, like many forms of bacteria, live on the body particularly in the nose and the anus and carried by 30% of the population, but it normally does not attack. It is more common with people who have a weak immunity and large open wounds. http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSN1337175820080114?feedType=RSS&feedName=domesticNews&rpc=22&sp=true
