As a rope top, I love rope because I can do so many different things with it. And while it takes time to learn rope bondage, once you are skilled at it it doesn't take much time at all to practice it. It gives me a much wider option for creativity than leather restraints or stainless steel.

As for the escape artist, are you tying the wrists together with a two-column tie? If so, where are you ending the rope? A short, sweet, two column between the wrists that leads to the elbows and finishes there is very difficult to get out of.

My Master just found this great tie that I can't slip out of...and it's a non tightening knot so it won't cut off circulation at all.

The tutorial is at http://monkeyfetish.com/main.html (go to Gallery -> Rope Tutorial -> Cat's Cradle Cuff) and it took less than 5 minutes to tie the first time he tried it on me.  4 pieces of rope using that cuff will tie him spread eagled on the bed...let's see him get out of that one :P

Rope is great! It's a much more sensual form of bondage because of adaptability of it. There's the feel of the rope, and the smell if it's hemp. The whole tying process can be very sensual as well. I've found that during the tying I get really relaxed and actually do start to space out, just a little. Rope bondage can be combortable, decorative, inescapeable, painful, disorienting etc. You can really do a lot with a good pile of rope, and a little shibari know-how [:D]

I've been in the force bow position before. We had some circulation issues that made her give up on securing my hands behind my back, but if she had been able to do that then there was literally no way I was getting out of it. That was interesting, because it's a stress position. I did eventually figure out it'd be possible to get my hands free, but I still don't think I could have freed myself the rest of the way. Plus she'd come over in short order and just make the position even worse if I did lol. After a couple of hours my legs were killing me, and I was so spaced out I was barely responsive at all. Let's just say I recommend it [;)]

If you were tied in the Japanese style for this position, using a 'takate kote' harness with your arms behind your back, it may not have a circulation issue, but rather a nerve issue. If so, next time try shifting the wraps over the upper arms a little up or down, and see if it helps.

I couldn't really tell what she was doing there, but there was a circulation issue with my hands. She was doing something with my wrists, because I have an old injury that makes one of my elbows slightly more flexible laterally than it should be heh. Basically we started with a shinju, and I think she was doing a column tie around my lower forearms, and was going to attach it do the back of the shinju. Unfortunately after only a minute or so I could feel one of my hands starting to balloon out heh.

She did a little research after that and described some kind of tie that will use my upper arms, to keep my bad elbow stable. Sounds like it might be what you described, but I'll mention it to her anyway! Thanks!

Then it shouldn't be a nerver issue with the uppr arms. It still might be a nerve issue in wrist area, especially if the problem arises that fast.

Yes that's I meant.
