After seeing the six month old, "where are the real people," thread revived, and seeing others that are similar, I began wondering what goes through someone's head in posting such a question.

I have exchanged email, messaging, phone calls, and even *gasp* met face to face with people from this site.

Is it because I am too easy, as in my standards are low?  After all, I am not looking for my weal won twue lurve, so I am not opposed to becoming friends or even acquaintances with someone.

Now, granted, I also know people in my meat life (as opposed to virtual) and have friends and we get together for activities.

So my question is, what is the "Finding Real People" issue about?

Most people are scared to face the truth that they are actually pathetic losers. So, in order to come up with an explination for why they are still alone and miserable, that doesnt accept any of them blame themselves, their minds come to the strange realization that they must be the only real person out here...and the rest of us are the pathetic fake losers.

I on the other hand, know, that I am a pathetic immature loser..and am actually happy to wallow in my own blame.

ummmmmm because their blow up people keep popping??

Seriously, i second ghita's answer... people need to blame someone else for the fact that they haven't found the right person.

me, i already know that i have a thing for self fulfilling prophecies

So it is kind of like tripping over the rug, then blaming the cat loudly, even when there is NO ONE ELSE at home.

Interesting.

Well ghita and sweet wenchie said it best. It  is rather sad that some people are so scared to face their own reality that they assume everyone elses is the same.

Interesting.

Is that like farting and blaming the dog, even when you don't have one?

I suppose it would be similar if there was no one around to hear you fart.  I was trying to show a personal face saving when no one even knows that you would need face saving.

Could I psychologically assess these people and write you a thesis on it? Yes, but are they worth it? Not really though they tend to fall into categories. It is the same as your classic nosey gossip filled neighbor. Possessing no life of one's own, so sticking a wrench into others provides a sense of self, a life and importance. Also akin to the ''the world is all wrong and I am all right'' folks. The people who feel OWED a life rather than having to actively MAKE one. Those who feel a need to save face when no face saving is needed are missing large parts of self/ego. An underdeveloped self is insecure, lacks self esteem, poor id, irrational and lends itself to the need to compose a self using parts of known others.

What does all of this mean basiclly? They are to be pitied, pathetic creatures and shitheads pretty much.

Possible reasons why:
unhappy with their own life?
impatient?
lonely?
dis-satisfied with their poor choices in life?
over inflated sense of importance?

Are your standards too low: Probably not, your standards are right for you, that is all that matters.

what is the "Finding Real People" issue about? : possibly the fact of being too opinionated , assume that meeting ppl through the internet has the same dynamics as meeting people in real life.

I haven't found Mr Right Now, but hey!  I never expected to find him on the interwebs anyway.  I do find lots of entertainment, though, and I can keep in touch with the many folks that I know here IRL, since I Don"t Get Out Much  during tax season.
