A good question...
Well, I don't honestly know that it will make me feel differently.  But I do like to understand what is happening on the other side of the slash... It helps me be more submissive. 

For example, the control and humiliation part helps me to understand... "oh so that's it!"  rather than the part in my head that is saying, "OH GOD, PLEASE DON'T LET ME HAVE AN ASTHMA ATTACK just because He wants a deep throat blow job."

I would never do this to a woman with asthma. I dont know enough about the afflection, and I would be concerned about her being able to start breathing again.

Gagging is one of those elemental warning signs (like nausea, dizziness, etc.) that tells humans and animals to stop doing whatever it is their doing because it's dangerous. Put that in a D/S context, and not only is the performer giving up their submission, they are literally and metaphorically giving up their life.
