FRANKFURT, Germany - A troubled German teen is spending nine months in remote Siberia as part of efforts to turn him away from violence, officials said on Thursday. The 16-year-old had been diagnosed as "pathologically aggressive" for behaving violently in school and attacking his mother, said Stefan Becker, head of the youth and social affairs department in the central German town of Giessen. The teen agreed to take part in a program to send troubled youth to Siberia to reform in "a somewhat unusual measure, even for us," Becker said. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22711569

'Thing with the Germans is.....they reckon the English are eccentrics and bizarre...........and then they go and do this. Next, the mad fuckers will be putting curry powder on their sausages...... Behaving violently in school? all part of growing up. Attacking your mother? a problem, but don't they have law and order in Germany? Is there really any need to send a 16 year old to a gulag?

Well its better than giving the bastards bail so that the day they are released they can kick somebody to death. This just happened in the UK by the way !

'Morning Seeks, on form as per............you're correct in the sense that we have a problem, although I'm sure we'd disagree on the solution. Anyway, back to the Germans.......don't they still have national conscription over there? and the French?

Chirac decided the French needed a small but effective professional army like Britain and that having thousands of young men wearing out boot leather marching and sweeping parade grounds was pretty pointless and a complete waste of time. The Germans have a professional core to their conscropt army and from what I understand, conscientious objectors do some sort of social or community work as an alternative. However, neither country has a youth problem as bad as Britains but I think this has a lot to do with the fact that most continentals have a greater sense of identity and ownership of their country and social pressure to be responsible is greater than in Britain, hence better educational performances, less drug use, less teenage pregnancies etc. etc.
