I've only ever seen flash backs of happier times, and memories. Do we actually get to see him as ac op before he went super duper nutty, do we actually see the episode where trudy was killer, or does he start the series super nutty?

Monk starts after his wife is dead. Although flashbacks indicate he wasn't screwed on all that tight before his wife was killed.

Dom Ken that is true, but he was less unscrewed while his wife was alive. he became what we see in episodes after the death.

It's a tough call, when you see the eps with brother Ambrose, you can see that that family was NOT putting the fun in dysfunctional..... and of course we don't know how sane Trudy was, either!

yup his mom and his brother were whacky too but according to the synopsis, he got super duper whacky after the death, he was whacky before but functional from the memories we saw.
