I am a member of an organisation called Soldiers Angels, we 'adopt' a serviceman/woman and make a commitment to write to that person once a week and send a care package each month while they are deployed.

Currently they are so overwhelmed with new servicemen being added that they are asking if current members can adopt an additional solider [which I have] they are also asking that we send out the word and ask others to help if they are able.

It does not take much effort on our parts to do this but it does make a lot of difference to the recipients of our letters and packages.

Their motto is a simple one "May No Soldier Go Unloved" and that is the object of the exercise, that none of the deployed troops feel forgotten and we hope that they will take a little comfort and cheer from the weekly letters etc.

I am not normally the sort that posts things of this nature but this really is a worthwhile cause and if by posting this even one  more person joins then it will be worth it.

Many thanks for taking the time to read.

greetings carolyn and everyone,

i used to be involved in this program and i have to say that it's very wonderful and rewarding. i ended up stopping because i could not afford to send packages, so now i mostly send letters through other programs, but i would definitely recommend this one for anyone who has the time, money, and energy - it's a great way to help people, and the other people in the program are incredibly kind.

respectfully,
annabelle.

What a wonderful program! I never heard of it while I was Active, but I know there are many that would appreciate it, especially the military members that don't have really a family. Bravo Zulu to you and yours in the organization.
