Oscar De La Hoya will fight a tune-up match on May 3 before his expected rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The match, against an opponent to be named later, will take place at either Mexico City's Estadio Azteca or the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

The fight, which will be part of a career countdown, will likely air on Home Box Office instead of pay-per-view, to help drum up interest in the proposed September 13 rematch with Mayweather.

"I want to set a trend where the big-name fighters will fight on free television," De La Hoya said. "Why not go back to the roots? Go back to fighting on free television. I think the fans deserve it. I hope other fighters can do this."

*reminds Oscar HBO isn't "free", but knows what he meant*

Hell.....I wish I could go to '' Garden'' tomorrow night...... I'd much rather see Roy Jones fight---and that's after having seen him twice already.

Don't know if you watched it, but Roy Jones put on a serious show earlier tonight.

Damn....Homie is forty years old and his hands are still so fast he don't even need to slip anything that's thrown. He mocked Trinidad bad....It was like a ''sweat pea'' fight with no counter-punching.

UtopianRanger:
After watching the Utube videos on Roy Jones I clicked on Wiki to get some background on him.
This was on Friday the 18th...guess what...Wiki had him listed as loosing the fight on the 19th which had not even been fought .
Old fuckers have a habit of not doing what is expected of them.
I missed the fight do you know of any videos of it?
