Three times in the last two days, I have written long, well-thought-out (if I do say so, myself) emails to people on this list, and when I pressed "send" they have simply disappeared into the air.
This is rather discouraging, to say the least, especially as the rewrites haven't had the same freshness as the originals.
I have taken to copying my emails and saving them elsewhere, just in case, but I just now forgot to do so, and it happened again! Arrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Is anyone else having this problem?

I thought I read a post in a different forum the other day complaining of this. However, have you notified the site admins?

Whenever you do this (here or anywhere else), I highly recommend you:

Hit Ctrl+A (to select the entirety of your message)
Hit Ctrl+C (to copy said text into your temporary clipboard)

Then you should try Send.

If it messes up, you can simply go back into the message again anew and hit Ctrl+V (to paste what you copied into the message), then hit Send again. Repeat until you're sure it's sent...but try not to 'spam' the other person with multiple, unintended copies or multiple emails.

Hope this helps!

Greetings Rosemary,

The problem I have is: 1) I press send, 2) I wait, 3) I wait more, 4) then it goes to the search page. 5) If I don't happen to notice the print saying "message was not sent", then I am up the creek. What I do is 6) go back two pages (at once, not one page twice!) and 7) click send again. This time it works!

I hope this process works for you.

Sincerely,
Master Dave

I should have thought to say what Mr. S said.

I save every message to a text file. Not just here, but for every system.

Master Dave

I have that problem intermittently. (just happened a moment ago).  Sometimes if I use the back feature of my browser, it will eventually get back to the message and I can try to resend.

Like others have said though, best thing if its a long thought out message, copy it to the clipboard before hitting send.  Then you can just paste and try to send as many times as you may need.

Good luck!

After it happened to me many times, I went looking for some help.  I found a Firefox extension that helps a great deal.  It does require that you use Firefox and it still reuires a right click before sending but I really like it.  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1046.

Collarme has a habit of not sending when you take a long time to compose a message. When I know the message will take some time to compose, to my satisfaction, I do it elsewhere (Word or Wordpad) then login to collarme, paste the message then press send.

I have had some recent frustations with this. Now if i write a lomg e-mail, I need to copy it so that if it doesnt go through I can repaste. Its very frustrating to write a detailed letter and have all my efforst erased. You end up not sending the same message.

The longstanding problem with mail not sending when the compose page is kept open for a long time should finally be fixed with a change that just went online.  We have been aware of it but it was not simple to fix.

The fix also addresses the 'message not sent' problem.

Well, I have the problem as well Rosemary, but also just use the "return" button until my message comes back again and then i send it off again. But it is quite a pain always to double check it got send, and not "not send" when u send it off. In the beginning i started the copying stuff, but as the message always returned with pressing the return button 2-3 times I cant be bothered about copying. So far, keep fingers crossed, it always came back with the return button to send it off again. But I also would appreciate if that hassle would get fixed on here.

Yes, I had this happen a few times in the past few days, and not just with long winded messages either. The back button didn't work for me. Copy and paste eventually did.
One thing I found is that if I reply to someone and it doesn't go through, if I go to that person's profile and email them through there that it does go through.
Hopefully this IS taken care of.

Thanks for all the help and empathy!

I hope the admin fix really does solve the problem, but until I am sure, I am still going to save everything.

The "back" button thing didn't work for me, for some reason...I think I had done too many things in between sending it and noticing it hadn't actually been sent...

Thanks again,

Rosemary

Yes, this has happened to me 3 times in the past three weeks. The first time was particularly annoying, since I didn't realize it until days later, and it may have contributed to the demise of what had initially appeared to be an interesting rapport with someone new.
