Well, I've been browsing various lifestyle-oriented sites for a while now and finally think I've achieved enough knowledge to say this; I'm interested in learning more.  Yes it's at that point where I know enough to know I know nothing.  So, being a switch with a lean towards the dom, I was wondering if there was any literature that guided any of you either in methods, beliefs, morals or any of that.  I've heard that military training guidlines were used by a few of the harder 24/7 lifestylers, though as a Psych student I plan on just pulling from my cognative-behavioral studies for that.

Note, I knew there was a topic about this -somewhere- but I just for the life of me can not find it.

The Loving Dominate would be a good start.

You have come to an intelligent revilation that few come to. One idea would be to search Doms in your area, see if someone would be interested in mentoring you, but you have to realize that one will pick an apprintice with the same care that they choose a sub, you will need to prove yourself worthy of their teaching.

Do you know the author on that one, so I don't get it confused?

As for looking for a mentor, I wouldn't know exactly where to start with that, nor do I have the time to really put an effort forth into learning "the ways" as it were.  For now, I'll have to be content in my own personal studies, though finding a mentor is a goal for the future.

John Warren is the author and the title is The Loving Dominant.

Greenery Press (google it) has a lot of good books on aspects of bdsm. Powells.com , Barnes and Noble, Amazon are also places to find the books, used even for a cheaper price.

Jester0587, if you email me and tell me a bit more, I can give you a good starter list. I have fairly good library and I've read/reviewed a good number of books. But I find that if I know more about a person I can make better recommendations. The questions I would ask may not be things you need to let the world know for example but I'm not interested in details just data.

"The Ethical Slut" by Dossie Easton and Katherine Lidzt (sp?) A good book on ethics when dealing with multiple partners... and as a switch, that becomes more likely.

"The Topping Book" by the same people
"The Bottoming Book" by ditto.

(I'm assuming you want the sociological books, not just "how to's" on bondage and whipping here.)

Check out the books in my signature. Although, I'm better that these and more are on Tammy Jo's list.

If your into the mental side of things, while I agree all the books mentioned so far are good, Consensual Sadomasochism is also an excellent book.

Scene books aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

lol I just didn't want the poor guy searching for it and wondering why he couldn't find it. Done the 3 am posts myself a time or two.

Thanks a ton y'all, I've got quite a number of books to choose from, though hopefully I'll get to read them all...eventually.  <3<3<3<3
