What a lovely lady she was and a great comedienne. She will truly be missed. Not many like her around any more....

We should also mention she was pretty damn funny.

She was the school teacher in The Birds.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Suzanne Pleshette, the husky-voiced star best known for her role as Bob Newhart's sardonic wife on television's long-running "The Bob Newhart Show," has died at age 70.

Pleshette, whose career included roles in such films as Hitchcock's "The Birds" and in Broadway plays including "The Miracle Worker," died of respiratory failure Saturday evening at her Los Angeles home, said her attorney Robert Finkelstein, also a family friend.

Pleshette underwent chemotherapy for lung cancer in 2006.

I am an old movie buff, I especially love movies from the
20s-70s. Look at her older movies and she was absolutely stunning.
It appears Suzanne started acting at a very young age.

I ADORED her in "Rome Holiday", "40 Pounds of Trouble",
"Youngblood Hawke", "A Rage to Live",  and of course in "The Birds".
Many don't know she was married briefly to Troy Donahue.

She had a wonderful and remarkable life and career.

She was my first celebrity crush - I've had a thing for brunnettes ever since, and that smokey voice...

I can't remember the name, but didn't she also play a hotel magnate who got thrown in jail for tax fraud ? It was based on a true story I think. She said "Taxes are for little people", that I remember.

Actually not the most flattering role, but when one is a cometent actor/ress and is offered work that is a bit different, they do it. Somebody has to play the bad guy in alot of movies.

I am pretty sure this was not really a documentary of sorts, just based on the story.

Still can't think of the name, but it was in the papers.

You're thinking of the movie about Leona Helmsley, Termy.

I rarely watch TV, but I did catch a late night episode of "Will & Grace" this week - I think Suzanne Pleshette played the mother of one of the main characters. What caught my eye was how great she looked. I just now looked it up on IMDB and it suggests that she was approx. 67 making that show.

Amazing!

I thought she did really well with that bit part.
