pahunkboy -> U die today, explain how the world notes it. (1/20/2008 5:53:35 AM)

Does one person matter?

What is life?

Will anyone really notice when you are gone?

Have you reached for all your aspirations?

What would you do differently?

How will you pass?

Will your obit be colorful?

Have you planned your funeral?

What is death like?

What is your lifes most noteworthy moment, good or bad ?

Were you less then alive for any period of time? , if so- do tell...

This is YOUR chance. Speak now while you can!  No complaints if it all goes the other way on the other side...

Yes, one person matters.  Of course it depends on the person.
Life is what we live while on this planet.  The good the bad and the ugly.
Yes, many people will notice when I am gone.
Yes, I am reached all of my aspirations.  However, I am currently thinking about adding more.  Something to live for and all of that.
What would you do differently?  What does that mean?  Differently about what?

How will I pass?  Well who knows.  I just hope it is as peaceful as possible when the time comes.
Nah my obit will be in black and white like everyone elses.
Don't care about having a funeral.  If I do, that's good.  If I don't, that's good.  I'm easy and after I'm dead I don't care if people have a designed space to remember me by or not.  My funeral will be like all funerals.  For the living.  If the living decides they need a specified place to mourn then so be it.  If not..that's all good to.

When I die I'll tell you what death is like, deal?
I'm not dead yet so I'm not sure of my most noteworthy moment.  I've done some great things in life.  I guess overall I'd have to say some of my charity work though.  Giving of yourself to others with nothing in return is the best feeling of all.

Was I less alive?  Meaning some sort of depression or literally?
I have been clinically dead 3 times in my life now.  Yet, I'm here now.

I have no idea if there is another side.  I'd like to hope there is...however not knowing if there is I really have no idea if there are 2 other sides.  Even so, I live my life to a specific moral standard I have set for myself.  In the end no matter where I ended up I'd have no regrets.
Those mere mortals who know me..who really know me would give me sainthood if it were possible here on Earth.  So, I live my life decently at least for anyone here.
Maybe it is good enough and maybe it isn't.  Only time will tell.

1. one person CAN matter- but not by buseness left undone.  These days it is hard to not be a grid number.
2. life is- not minding the clock
3. a few ppl will notice when Im gone, but not a whole town.
4. fulfilled all my aspirations? nope. But it isnt clear what they all are- they are unfolding still.

5. do differently. well- I would have been nicer and less snotty as a youth. Ild follow my own priciples- my mistakes have been when I violated my own rules of life.

6. hopefully I will die in my sleep-
7.  ild like my obit to be colorful.
8 I won a gravesite years ago. but havent planned.
9. colorful, hgell yeah!  I could write a book. I choose not to relive it tho- it is painful.
10. less then alive. yeah- 4 years of court and hellish pain.

What is death like. good riddle.  we all find out in time...

Termyn8or -> RE: U die today, explain how the world notes it. (1/20/2008 8:06:20 AM)

I thought this post was more about what one's mark on the world amounts to rather than the dead person's perspective. At least that's how it came off to me.

If I have read it correctly, that is precisely what has come into my sphere of consideration in later life. When I die, are people going to miss me or be glad I am gone ? What will they be talking about at my funeral, if any ?

What's more, how do I justify all the air I have breathed up, the food and drink [mostly beer] I have consumed ? I came to a certain revelation in life, which is that I have been given life. By who or what, nobody knows, and we are not meant to know until it is over. Do we meet that entity somehow ? Is there an entity ? If we do meet the entity would you say thank you for your life ?

But the point was how the world notes, so back to that. (yes am a serial hijacker)

When I die, first of all does that remove a burden or cause hardship for my people. Neither answer is any damn good.

In either case, were you a good influence on people ? Did you encourage them to do well, and offer guidance at times when appropriate ? Or did you lead everybody down the road to ruin ? Or were you inert ?

Wow, it occurred to me just now, perhaps we are known for our internet posts. There is no reason to believe that they die with us. I am in deep shit I guess.

Be well. Die when you want. But until then, be well.

Living

Will anyone really notice when you are gone?

Absolutely.

Have you reached for all your aspirations?

Interesting - I will say that I don't believe anyone can fullfill all aspirations, because mine change every moment I reach what I aspire to be - so it's in constant change - but if I live my life and not waste it - then I reach with every moment.

quote:

What would you do differently?

Nothing.  Life pretty much rocks.

How will you pass?

Satisfied.

It will be totally and uniquely .dark.[;)]

Have you planned your funeral?

Discussed it yes.

What is death like?

I can't tell you what it is like.  But I can tell you what it is.  It is the only certainty.

quote:

What is your lifes most noteworthy moment, good or bad ?

Giving birth - the good.  The loss of my gran - the bad.

I have always lived.  But if you mean out of body?  Been there, done that.  It rocks, but so does living.

DesertRat -> RE: U die today, explain how the world notes it. (1/20/2008 8:27:22 AM)

So far, my greatest achievement has been that I've provided a decent, maybe even joyful life and good home for several stray critters. I snagged Ruth The WonderLab from a Humane Society shelter a few decades ago, and we shared life for 13 years, which is about how long black labs live. Presently (and this might sound nuts but it's really how I feel), my primary concern, when I think of it at all, is that I live and continue to provide a good (and fun) home for the six feline furballs I've snagged. So, hopefully, I'll be around for at least another 20 years. After that, I suppose my clipboard, compass, and battered GPS unit will be packed up and sent off to be placed on permanent display at the Smithsonian.[8|]

There's only one past thing I'd change and maybe someday I'll feel differently about that, too. Otherwise, I wouldn't want any part of my life to differ from the present configuration. I hope my remains will be cremated. That's about it.

Does one person matter?  Teachers. Mentors. Buddha. Anyone who can lead through example. To inspire is divine.

What is life?  Connected moments of illusion where joy and despair connect, are processed and felt and let go of. You may or may not share this with other sentient beings, as per your will.

Will anyone really notice when you are gone?  I have a perfume that is distinct to Me. It lingers on the sheets of both My subs' beds. How will I know if they have recall Me if they have to wash the sheets?
Memory is a funny thing, I recall the smell of My grandmother through the experience of being near rose-scented lotion.

But hey- go on a killing spree. <sarcastic aura> That seems to give people immortality.

Have you reached for all your aspirations?  Getting older and wiser. Not yet. How can I?

What would you do differently?  Telling someone I loved that I loved them, more often, at the time I did love them. That moment is an eternity unto itself.

How will you pass? Like shit through a goose?

Will your obit be colorful? The best obit I want is a bench placed upon a hill overladen with beautiful trees with the inscription, "She wanted you to enjoy the view." Having less of an impact on the living earth is not such a bad thing by wasting paper.

Have you planned your funeral? Human Composting. The Swiss have it right. I want roses to take up My DNA. Don't kill a tree to make a coffin for me. Killing something to bury a dead shell is not right.

What is death like? Sleeping in forever without having to get up to pee or get a drink of water!

What is your lifes most noteworthy moment, good or bad ?
Good-Moments of kindness
Bad- Being so selfish that its destructive

Were you less then alive for any period of time? , if so- do tell...
Being alive is being self-aware. I am sure I've been the walking dead in moments in between the spaces of being self-aware, and aware of others.

This is YOUR chance. Speak now while you can!  No complaints if it all goes the other way on the other side...

Ego is a mighty thing. Its best to say you lived how you would have liked, not chasing a dream of having more money or power, but living as averagely as you can in the mundane rituals of your day that you can celebrate.

I got hot chocolate served to Me last night by My sub for My birthday, and he got a movie for him and I to watch. Nothing spectacular, but its those moments that count. Its the little things when we're older and greyer that he will recall.

Does one person matter?  Yes to the people who care.

What is life? The absence of death and the ability to breath in every moment.

Will anyone really notice when you are gone?  Yes, those that cared.

Have you reached for all your aspirations?  So far, yes.

What would you do differently? Been more tolerant and spent more one on one time with My Mom those last few years.

How will you pass? How the body and the earth decides.

Will your obit be colorful? LOL, no but My memorial service better be!

Have you planned your funeral? Yes

What is death like? If I get a few minutes I will writw about this from the other side.

What is your lifes most noteworthy moment, good or bad ? The 6,570 days I spent raising My child.
