Greetings and salutations!

I'd like to make a suggestion for a "High Protocol" board, for those who would much prefer that level of protocol in their online interactions. If they have a board of their own it MIGHT cut down on some of the contention about this point. At the very least it will give them a place to play with others who consent to such.

I also hereby agree that, should I find myself participating on such a board, I will abide by the protocol dictated (or I won't participate).

Any opinions on this out there?

That's not a bad idea Suz. And some of us who enjoy either way could post on both. Everyone wins. It would be very interesting to see how different that board would be from this one. I like it.

Forum boards are easy to create. Should someone wish one, I personally think they should create it and put in the link in the link section. This is a free site that they have enough to work on rather than worrying about extra things to worry about like a bunch of rules that are not rules of this site (on ANY part).

I do agree with Suz totally that if you belong to a high protocol board you should follow it (and it is a reason why I don't/won't belong to one), but as this isn't one. Those who get their panties in a bunch by those of use who follow the rules of where we are rather than *their* personal rules are being over run by the actual rules should also learn to respect the rules of where THEY are IMO....

I'm in total personal agreement with you on these points. I just thought that if the folks who prefer a higher level of protocol had a place where specified forms of protocol (or protical if you prefer - is that a protein drink???) were the minimum standard, that their wants/needs would be met and it would stop the increasingly inane and insipid arguments/ discussions about it. As much as you and I have a right to NOT partake, those who wish it should also have a place TO partake if we are to be as tolerant of all kinks as we profess to be.

I will leave the deciding of what the rules should be for said board to those that would prefer this sort of interaction. I'm not especially one of them, although I can dip in and out if it suits me; much the same as I am equally comfortable at a full formal dinner table as at a diner table.

Glad to hear you agree. It was something that came to me in a lightbulb moment, without much depth of thought. I'm wondering how the protocols would be established, but think that I'd much prefer to leave that to those who would be most likely to use said board. If I decide I don't like the standards then I simply won't participate; but would hope that, as I said to Sandy, I would find it at least tolerable enough to dip in and out of if a topic suited me.

Trust me Suz, they *have* places to partake their needs. it just isn't this forum persay. Realistically, would it not be them showing intolerance by cramming their *need* for protocol down the throats of those who are following the rules here instead of finding a place that is more in take with their own desires? Why would it be collarme's job to add extra work to the all of the really good things they do offer because some who who screech protocol show (IMO) an intense lack of honor and integrity in not honoring the rules of the forum they have *chosen* to partake in?

Let them start their own forum, their protocol, and their rules, and show us the respect they demand in accepting that this forum is not up to their exacting standards ;)

That's an absolutely wonderful argument. It probably won't do much for membership count, but if you're ok with it I am too (goes to quality of membership, I suppose).

In fact, the next time someone attempts to cram this crap down everyone else's throat I'm going to reference your response here.

While we're at it, can we discuss those who admittedly and intentionally try to stir up shit just for their own infantile amusement and claim divine right of being 'non conformist'? Naaaa...I suppose that's a bit of overkill.

I'll just continue to ignore the insipid posts. Thanks for your response.

HAHAHA So perhaps my lightbulb moment was only half a watt (reads dim). I'm not entirely convinced that it's a bad idea, but logistically I can see how it would be difficult to establish, particularly when the sort of people who tend to prefer this sort of thing usually read like one-true-wayers anyway - so who's likely to set the standards??? It's all so subjective (which is my argument AGAINST high protocol use on message boards); and to police. Having moderated a rather busy message board before I can tell you it's a lot of work. I don't mean to make more work for our Mods, I think they do a fantastic job as it is.

Grin...I don't mind reading posts from the far right, I do mind getting more of the one-true-way crap than I want to be exposed to. I can get that from John Ashcroft, complete with bad singing. Fortunately, the usual perpetrators are predictable and, after giving it a while to see them repeat the process, become easy just to ignore.

YOU, however, are delightful to read. [:)]

Instead of a "High Protocol" board, why not a "Proper Spelling and Grammar" board? Or better yet a "Poorly Written, Difficult to read" Board?

I was thinking the same thing, Lawrence.

Why is it that some of the biggest supporters of high protocol don't care about spelling? (I'm not talking about you, Estring).

Spelling is a kind of protocol. A formalized, rigid ritual to facilitate communication and all that.

By the way, Suz, it's spelled proticle. Rhymes with testicle.

I once toyed with the idea of a high protocol party.

Elegantly dressed ladies & gentlemen, naked serving slaves for both service and entertainment (for use by any member of the party).

I thought I'd let it evolve organically. Start with very few rules and add 1-2 more at each party. Keep the group small & intimate. Let the group suggest the rules, try them, bless or reject them, etc. Have social gatherings with no play to help the group form.

Other ideas to help make this a reality?

I just wrote a really long post in response and my stupid mouse has these buttons on the side that will take a page back or move it forward, and while scrolling down to read through my post I must have touched one of those buttons and lost everything.

Probably better off anyway since I did go off a bit discussing Nietzsche, morality, capitalist societies, imperialism and the Mongol empire lol

It can become an issue.

Anyway since I am not going to sit here and write it all out again, I would like to hear from those in favor of a high protocol board and how you envision it being run.

Bailey, you are such a gal after my own heart. I absolutely love the idea.

I think you would need to form a secret society, though. I have the perfect rings (see attached photo) It should be very small, quite select. Oh, I have so many ideas and plans...we'll have to chat during dinner on the 31st.

Hmmm as a suggestion, we could just have one of the oh-so-popular polls? Preferably without the 'webspeak' and spelling/grammar errors?

Otherwise, I vote for NO on the high protocol board. There's plenty of places to get that fix. I personally find the notion of protocol on the internet to be akin to marriage on the internet - fake, time consuming, and foolish.

Actually, I know that ring as a slave ring. It signals to those who know that you are owned. I'm surprised to see you wearing it.

Secret Society... naw. Just a close group of friends with a common goal. I'm not one for secrets.

Dinner conversation or at the dungeon if I'm Lawrence's 2nd course... I may have some time to play social butterfly.
