I don't relate to any of the terms other than BDSM, which is something Master engages me in, in his dominance of me.

Justme696 -> RE: 5 terms (1/25/2008 3:51:12 AM)

BDSM - bondage, discipline, sadomasochism/ just a Box I seem to fit in

Old Leather - Not sure, might be gay lifestyle

New Leather - smoother then old leather

Gor -  Gave my life structure (and yes...never been on Counter Earth, but it meant a lott to me)

Kinksters - word with out meaning for me

Muttling -> RE: 5 terms (1/25/2008 7:38:35 AM)

BDSM - bondage/discipline and sado/masochism.  Things I always dreamed of getting from my female teachers in school.

Old Leather - A cross between Old Spice and English Leather cologne.  (The smell turns vanilla women into violent sadists.)

New Leather - The scars that are left by the vanilla women turned sadists.

Gor -  The guy who used to be the "next president of the United States."

Kinksters -  Those crooked little stir sticks you get at some bars.

We had our munch tonight and the group discussion question was interesting so I thought I would post it here and see what people thought. The question was: What do the 5 following terms mean to you...BDSM, Old Leather, New Leather, Gor and Kinkster.

There were some very interesting and emotional answers around the room and it got me to thinking and wondering what others here might have to say. So answer if you will [:)]

let me see....bdsm.......an array of experinces consented to by adults which include predilections thought to be outside of the norm, known as 'vanilla'. bdsm covers aspects of power exchange as well as sexual activities within relationships, is not exclusive of sexuality or necessarily inclusive. bdsm referes to the words bondage, discipline and sado masochism, those words relate to activities rather than roles and the predominant roles are stereotyped as dominant, submissive, and switch.

Old Leather: dedicated followers of fashion, however see Jack Rinella for his beautiful and eloquent early and well-written up experiences of it....
New Leather....cultural reaction to the Old...also what Jack and followers enabled and what Old Leathermen resisted. Also who cares.......Old, New and then came Radical......

Gor: dedicated folowers of fiction.......kajiras unite....you CAN vote for Hilary. Oh God if only reality was like the Bible.

Kinster....US subcultural term for its UK equivalent: pervert
Any more questions???

bdsm--bondage, discipline, sadism, masochism
old leather--the traditional, old guard, old protocol, lifestyle people and gay leathermen
new leather--taking a stab at this one, the new kids into kink who come from all
                   walks of life, it's more of a fad thing with alot of them
gor--bdsm practiced in the style imitating a fictional world from a series of books
kinksters--mostly vanilla but enjoy a dalliance here and there into the world of kink

BDSM= The play aspects of the lifechoices. Bondage Discipline Sadism, Machoism..if it was ment for D/s then there would be an extra  DS in there but there is not.
Old leather= the original foundations of one of the alternative life choices.
New Leather= The groups, pagentry and clubbing of an alternative life choice.
Gor= Is a series of fictional books on the writings of John Norman. To me its an online game much like dungeons and dragons.
Kinksters= Those that play in the bedroom only.

domiguy -> RE: 5 terms (1/25/2008 3:10:41 PM)

BDSM-The acronym most people choose to identify themselves by who engage in this thang that we do.

Old Leather - Could give a rats ass.

New Leather- Could give a rats ass.

Gor - A bunch of clowns who follow the fictional writings of another clown.

Kinkster- Someone who might be open to the possibilities.

Alumbrado -> RE: 5 terms (1/25/2008 3:19:14 PM)

BDSM... Catch all phrase that covers WIITWD, even if one or more components are absent.

Old Leather....New Leather...  History, which as we should all know, is a pageant, not a philosophy.

Gor... Pulp fiction - also not a philosophy.

Kinksters... Another catch all phrase.
