We've just caught onto this and have started to look into it. Thank you for posting this thread.

As far as I am aware the Bill is currently under consultation until the 2nd of October and there are four options. Master has read some of the consultation document, but needs to print it off to digest it properly.

It seems to imply that 'consensual' is ok but then goes on to say that anything that would cause GBH is not - confusing!

We will be looking at it in greater depth.

Looks like the goverment and police want another bloody nose as it got in the Spanner case. I also read dear old Tony is looking into finding ways to make us buy a license for the internet much in the same way as we have to for the tv. The americans seem to love him can't we make a present of him to them?

In the U.S. the law which requires extensive record-keeping for websites with pornographic photos has driven some websites to relocate their servers to Canada. The content is still viewable in the U.S. and the people who own the websites were able to avoid the new law.

I am thinking that if the UK were to pass a restrictive law, then the website owners could simply move to a foreign server. Unless the UK were to block entire web addresses, such as China does, it seems that the Internet content will still be viewable despite new laws.
