Would someone please take the time to explain to me how eye restrictions works?  Do blindfold them or what? How does a slave get anything done if he can not see? Thank you in advance for the education...

You might be referring to eye CONTACT restrictions, in which the slave is not allowed to look the master in the eye.  Personally, I find that very annoying!

Yeah, restricting where your slave can look, especially at you, helps enforce the difference between you.

I use it as a useful exercise during training and to re-enforce the fact that looking at me directly is earned through hard work and attitude. I might enact that restriction during ownership from time to time.

But I love eyes so I want to see them and I love to see desire or interest in someone's eyes so it's only for limited periods.

It's a very powerful training tool since it is just natural to look into another's eyes.  It does reinforce very effectively the difference between the slave and the owner. 

I find that it doesn't persist once a relationship has some 'miles' on it, since we all want to gaze into our Superior's eyes, and they likely want to look into the 'window of the soul'.  However, it can be part of play even then.

I don't think it IS natural to look into someone's eyes, especially an authority figure's.  That's why I want my boys to LOOK at me when I  am talking to them, so they are engaged with me and what I am saying.

For some submissives this is very much the case.

In those instances, playing with eye restrictions can also be requiring a person to look at you.

I love being looked at, so I would never use this...but I can very much see how it would be a powerful training tool.

I have to agree that it can be a powerful tool in the right situation.  I mean, imagine how much willpower and obedience it would take to fight the urge to gaze at TheLookingGirl.  I guess it's a good thing that she enjoys the attention so much :)

well this girls Master has her use eyes restriction every day unless he says different. and yes it is very hard for looking at Master is like looking at the most perfect thing in all of time.and yes the restriction is very controling and  demeaning to a slave. but this girl would have it no other way for girl has learned  to deal and charish the times Master does let her look apon his face.

i know M'Lord loves to look me in the eyes but its really hard when im really horny or enjoying myself because i close my eyes [&o] and i like to look at his too but he is like me its hard because we are switches and when we are enjoying ourselves we react with closing our eyes. why would that be when i really want to be looking in his and he wants to look into mine?

I have this sudden and amusing vision of a shelf in the coat check area of the local playspace for "eyeballs" due to the restriction so many dominants have on eyes.

My guess is that it has to do with biochemical reactions and muscle reactions to feeling aroused and relaxed at the same time.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge of that sort of thing can respond.

probably but you never know and i hope that in time it will all work out so that we can make the eye contact and enjoy ourselves at the same time

I think a lot depends on where you grew up, how you were conditioned from an early age. Some people have been taught that to NOT look into an authority figures eyes, especially when they are speaking to you, is very disrespectful. My father would always say "Look at me when I'm talking to you!" Others have been taught the opposite. Remember the sergeant major in An Officer and A Gentleman yelling at the cadet for "eyeballing" him? Different cultures, different norms.

I had a domme who adhered to the "eyes down" protocol, and I found it extremely annoying. Rather than promoting submissiveness, it made it harder to communicate, pissed me off, and promoted resentment. I think sub's and domme's eyes meeting enhances communication and intensifies the emotions.
