ORIGINAL: brainiacsub When I am alone, I talk to my dogs. Not like normal people talk to their dogs, mind you, but I have conversations with them, like they are people. Occasionally I've had the misfortune of having someone walk in on me or overhear. Of course, then there is the obvious question, "Who are you talking to?" Honestly, sometimes there is no good answer. i think that's probably more "normal" than mine... i talk back to the cats in their own language... yowls, squeaks, etc. Sometimes i wonder just what i'm saying to them. i've never heard anybody refer to snoring as an endearing trait before... it tends to get me kicked, shaken, and eventually ejected from the bedroom Some dogs do have an amazing capacity for language. Since mine were puppies, I have always told them I love them while hugging or kissing them. They are now 5 1/2 and associate the word 'love' with affection. They also know my 3 cats by name. I have in essence been able to 'train' them to be very affectionate with the cats by word association. It takes some time, but it is worth it. All my pets get along and there is plenty of love to go around.
