Termyn8or -> A nice rant about work (1/22/2008 2:04:01 PM)

Why do businesses fail to thrive ? I have one example right now.

Last week a unit got severly damaged and is going to cost the company hundreds to fix. It's value, in working condition is about $600-800. It got damaged because of the lack of a specific tool. The cost of that tool ? Less than $20.

I said I needed it a few weeks ago. They are available, the excuse ? Did not make a minimum order. Dammit, this thing (a scope probe) is essential, get as many as it takes to make a minimum order dammit !

I'm walking in there tomorrow with one of two approaches, one would be to call the boss Ramses and tell him that I am again ready to try to make bricks with no straw. Or, since I've taken a couple of days off I might ask "Is my time valuable yet ?".

And, making what I make, I choose to take days off anyway, what does that tell you ? Is the boss that fucking dense ? I had to train the last company I worked for, and my most powerful tool is absence, because I can make them alot of money on a half decent day.

We shall see what happens tomorrow. If I need a new job, so be it. You have to be willing to lose if you want to win. The conditions are such that it is time for change, alot of it, and no change has happened in over three years. It is time.

Ask him to tell you HOW this is cost efficient. If he can cool- if he cant then a problem has been identified.
