Damn... He was one of my favorite actors...
I wonder if they will do the same type of thing to TDK that they did to The Crow (last interview, memorial pieces)
He seemed to be really hitting his stride as an actor, and will be missed greatly

Found dead in his NYC apartment...bottle of pills by his head.
Sad.

I really don't know too much about Heath Ledger.....But, as I was driving back from the gym earlier tonight, flipping through the radio dial, a caller from the ''Savage Nation'' radio program, hypothesized that maybe it was '' Brokeback Mountain '' that severely traumatized him and left him in a lingering state of deep depression.

This is Darcy

I woke up this morning to the news of Heath Ledger's death and I feel very sad. Here was a rising talent, one of the few genuinely talented actors of his generation (another, ironically, being his Brokeback Mountain co-star Jake Ghyllenhall), and a man who had entertained me greatly in everything I had seen him in.

Whether his death was accidenatal or deliberate, the entertainment world has lost a great talent, and a good role model. Ledger always behaved with dignity and a great self-respect when out of the spotlight. He had an uneasy relationship with the press, preferring to keep his private life to himself, and for that I resepcted him greatly.

I still look forward greatly to seeing The Dark Knight, and hope that this film serves as a fitting finale to a career of well-chosen, entertaining movies.

This is Darcy (again!)

I see that the Westboro Baptist Church has wasted no time in arranging to picket Ledger's funeral.

These people would be hilarious in their blinkered, moronic, ill-informed interpretation of "God's word" if they weren't so unpleasant and stomach-churning.

These people make me sick.

So sad.  I've seen him walking the streets of NY.. he did look like a typical guy especially that he was with his family. RIP

SavageFaerie -> RE: Heath Ledger Dead (1/23/2008 5:25:33 AM)

I have been reading about the circumstances of this death and what stands out to me more than anything is his sleeping medication bottle was open but not strewn, and it was ambien. I have taken ambien and that chit does weird thing to you, it cause sleep walking, if you dont stay asleep you lose memory of taking it and could very well take more without even realizing in the almost hyponotic state your in. Im more inclined to think it was accidental and personally think this dangerous drug should be taken off the market.  Look up ambien stories sometimes its frightening, people getting going to the store while still in a dream state, my old gornw kids related things I did while on that medication which convinced me to get off it.

The fact he was out of bed and found by the end of his bed gives me cause to wonder if that was what happened.

No suicide note was found, he had appts that day. I totally believe it was accidental.
yes I know at some point he had a substance abuse problem, but in this instance I dont think that was the case. Course I could totally be off base. Just my opinion
And his loss will be well felt.

I just heard. I'm stunned. I loved him in A Knights Tale and was looking forward to his portrayal of The Joker.

We'll still see him in "The Dark Knight" because that's finished filming.

I saw a piece on Larry King last night about the death and they had several different people who knew him professionally. They said he has always been uncomfortable at interviews and was always very selective about his roles, turning down a lot of commercial things all the time. So folks claiming those might be signs of his "suicide" may not know the actor that well.

I heard about his death shortly after he was discovered.

I was afraid that would happen. I wish I had been wrong.

I had to go look up Westboro Baptist Church - I couldn't imagine what they had to do with anything.  Imagine my disgust.

I'm very sad at Heath Ledger's passing.  I'll be curious to hear what the autopsy finds, but I'd be surprised if it was a suicide.  He was a rather odd person in interviews, but not all actors are comfortable in the public eye.  He was a talented individual, and will be missed.  I feel for his ex-girlfriend and their daughter.

heartcream -> RE: Heath Ledger Dead (1/26/2008 7:06:13 PM)

Today I saw a thing about the tragedy on TV. They said it was most likely not a suicide, but from mixing the different drugs prescribed to him together. There was antihistamine, ambien and some other and some other stress-relieving drug. There was a doctor who said drugs metabolize at different rates, and went on to explain how this is what might have occurred. They say the rumour of the drugs being strewn was not correct, they were in the bottles with the lids screwed on.

His family gave a statement that are quite certain he did not take his own life.

Heath was quoted as saying he was only sleeping 2 hours per night and that playing the Joker was really stressing him out, the Joker being the kind of hideous being he was. Heath said it much more eloquently and articulate than my paraphrasing here. Jack Nicholson is reported to have told him to beware of the mental anguish playing the role of the Joker would take on him.

I am so sorry for his family, his daughter, his loved ones, and all of us for such a loss.

It's sad. I'm sure in the next day or two, we'll hear the whole story about what happened. Still, this is definitely going to throw a pall over the new Dark Knight film... I've never seen Brokeback, or First Knight... but I did see Brother's Grimm. I don't see Gilliam as being cursed... it's more like, the man deliberately goes for these difficult projects that stresses everyone out... and shit happens because of it. Ever see "Lost in LaMancha?"

And you left out Baron von Munchausen.  Ever see 'The Making of' that?

winterlight -> RE: Heath Ledger Dead (2/2/2008 11:14:26 AM)

It is sad to see somebody young die. There are children that are in horrible circumstances that die even younger. Heath Ledger from all the news accounts had problems. Some say he seemed depressed. Some said his roles that he was in (two movies) were very dark and depressing for him. That he really gets into his character in these roles. I am not sure if he was done shooting the films. Bottom line: if you see somebody that is hurting reach out and help them. At least try to. It doesn't matter who they are. We need more caring people in life.. I feel so bad for his little daughter and his companion. they have lost a very loving soul in their life. My thoughts and prayers go out to them and anybody else hurting over the death of a loved one.
What is scarey to me is the press. In their rush to get these stories in they hound and badger people that are famous. Is that part of being famous ..to some degree yes. Look at Princess Diana and what happened to her. Nobody deserves to have a pack of reporters all over them. Especially when they are having problems whether it's drugs etc. Give em a break.
All these reports and some of them aren't true must be hard for the living loved ones to take. I sure wouldn't like all the speculation etc.
It's like that game when we  were kids. We sat around in a circle and whispered something and sure enough the last kid would get it wrong.
May he and all (stars or not) rest in peace.

winterlight -> RE: Heath Ledger Dead (2/2/2008 11:21:02 AM)

know somebody that took Ambien and woke up the next day with tar or something on her feet. She had been outside during the night sleepwalking. pretty scarey. My parents swore by Ambien. They had no problems with it. Don't know if i would take it.

I sure could use something for sleep but i fear the alternatives would be much worse.
