Asher, God Of Cookiedom

So...I just read your signature  line and I have some questions... I've always wanted to do this.. just never thought I'd get the chance.

So, why is it that when I take an oreo cookie apart, that sometimes the frosting in the middle doesn't all wind up on one side?

And why do chocolate chip cookies taste better with milk?

And.. why is it that when I open a commercial bag of chocolate chip cookies, the first few are always broken?

And.. and and and ... why does chocolate chip cookie dough taste even better than the cookies themselves?

Why do you make these things happen?

I've just always wanted to know...and well, since I FINALLY have the God of Cookiedom right here to ask... I just wanna know... WHY?

juliet
Well as you seem to be a good worshipper I will answer you:
1.So, why is it that when I take an oreo cookie apart, that sometimes the frosting in the middle doesn't all wind up on one side?
~Oreo cookies get very lonely without frosting, and since frosting has such a caring nature, it doesnt want to make either side unhappy
2. And why do chocolate chip cookies taste better with milk?
~This one is simple, have you ever seen the goddess of milk? shes hot (and human-looking)
3.And.. why is it that when I open a commercial bag of chocolate chip cookies, the first few are always broken?
~I have gotten this question a lot and the answer is thus... The people making those bags are Heretics... Plain and simple.
4. And.. and and and ... why does chocolate chip cookie dough taste even better than the cookies themselves?
~This is to give the person making the cookies a special treat, so that cookies always get made!
Spread the word

Thank you so much for your very helpful answer! When I was growing up, my brother, sister and I used to yell "AH-LA PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES!!" before jumping in the pool or lake. I never really knew WHY we said this. In fact, it seemed kinda silly and always made us laugh.

But now I know... AH - LA... was just Allah and we didn't know it.

Enlightenment is a wonderful thing.

Yes, yes it is... Please direct all future inquiries to the Ask The CookieGod thread... that way this one, and others remains slightly more in-line :P

Is there a meatspace equilivant of godwin's law? There are places in the world where you are executed in the public square for doing less and your whining and crying about some offduty busdriver?

Sometime around the late 90s goth stoped being abotu goth music and started being about chacing after the oportunity to sprout off about how oppressed you were and screaming about how we live in a police state. That is so funny; however, one has to be careful on how one approaches a situation like this.
Our little store has to wait on everyone no matter how rediculus they look.  We do not have to listen to someone hurting a child or allowing children to run and tear up the store.
I have a strong feeling that this was done on purpose to stir up a law suit.  When you are in this lifestyle, you must keep certain things from the public because they do not understand it.
I am not sure what the law is regarding this, but the bus company could be liable especially if they did nothing wrong other than show up like that.
I had a guy with a purple mohawk at my register. I looked at him and said, "what were you thinking."  I waited on him and talked with him, just as I would the Pastor down the street.

A few decades back, if you were black, you had to be seated in the back of the bus, because the public didn't understand you were the same as a white person on the inside. Fast forward a bit, then if you were gay, you had to keep it from the public, because they didn't understand that this does not impair your qualities as a human, or threaten the validity of their own relationships.

People fought these prejudices, and we're a better, stronger society for it.

Anything can happen behind closed doors; that doesn't make it healthy, or a good angle for society, nor does it mean that all things that are uncommon should be behind closed doors. For us, yesteryear is the past. But for our grandchildren, today will be their past. And I will bet you good money that 100 years from now, we will be judged as less civilized than the contemporary society of 2108 AD. Just as, a century past, people thought themselves civilized, and thought their past less civilized. And just as those of 2108 will think themselves civilized, and us less civilized.

Just as we now think ourselves civilized, they will be deluded, as are we, as were our forebears.

That is the truest lesson history can teach us.

Goth is still about the music, its just less about writing bad poetry abut how depressed you are and what it would feel like to be dead, and more about writing bad poetry about how depressed you are about the world around you... same bad poetry though

Aswad:

I feel so encouraged by your knowledge in civil rights since I lived it.  Too bad you did not quote my entire post because it basically said the same thing.
I am going to work now to wait on more customers no matter what they look like.
We are pretty limited in this area on religious beliefs.  We are mostly Christian.  I was very disturbed when an old dear friend of mine whom I could have sworn would be objective, had many comments to say about a Jewish family that was in line before her.   Sad.  I lost my respect for her.
It is sad that people in this world view people by what they look like and not who they really are.

Oh for fucks sake. When I was younger my roommate and I got dressed up all gothy and I took her around on a leash. Not because we were practicing BDSM, not because she was my pet or my slave, not because we were doing anything sexual at all with eachother. Nope. It was because we wanted to dress up and have fun and go shopping in the alternative part of the down town core and thought it would be fun to do it dressed up. Dressing up does not have to be sexual.

I did that in high school, course I got suspended for it, but it was fun!
Also Gwyn, for the record... Goths hate them damn whiny emo kids!!!
:P

I honestly don't know of any one who likes the whiney Emos honestly...

*smiles*

Gwyn,
who gave up Goth back in '91 when it became insanely popular.. and switched to pink when everyone switched to black.

So, explaining to my family members that there are all sorts of people in this world who have all sorts of beliefs and ways of living didn't sexualize activities such as leashes and leather. It gave them information on how to be accepting of people's choices, even if their choices weren't the ones my family members would necessarily make for themselves.

And this last spring, on a trip to Cedar Point, one of my family members shocked his friends when, instead of snickering, pointing fingers and treating people rudely, said hi, and carried on a conversation with a leash toting couple standing in line for one of the rides there. His friends were SCARED of this couple. He simply said hi and asked how long they'd been together, if they were having fun, etc. His friends slowly started to converse with the couple as they waited for their turn on the ride.

When they had ridden the ride, his friends stopped him... "Why were you talking to those freaks?!" And my family member simply responded "they're just a couple of people having fun on a hot day - just like we are." His friends paused a minute... and then, one of them said 'well, they WERE nice... wonder why she had a leash on...?" My family member was able to say the leash made her feel connected to him and him to her, hey, let's try that ride over THERE!!" (and off they ran)

Nothing needs to be sexualized. It's simply not necessary.

So, lamenting over the "trauma" of encountering a leash toting couple on a bus, at least to me, just wouldn't be that big of a deal. We'd handle it the way we always do. "Just because it's not your way of life doesn't make it wrong. It just makes it unusual for you right now."

Funny though how, in the interests of "protecting the children,"  we demonize a leash but romanticize a tongue down the throat kiss. Which one is more "sexual?"

Someone laying hands on someone else for living a life differently is discrimination - pure and simple. And all the rationalization and misdirection of views in the world as to the couple's financial status, the location of their activities (in an area that is more conservative - or behind the times as one responder put it), and the "deeper" meanings of leashes and it's implications for the children don't change the fact that it's discrimination.

juliet

a big ol ditto. I am glad your family member was so level headed.. Hopefuly his friends will catch on to how he treats others.

As always Aswad it is refreshing to see someone who understands the struggles for equality.

It is amazing the changes that have come over our nation in equality.. and the work that still needs to be done. I still remember as a young girl that it was shocking to see a "mixed" couple together and god forbid if they held hands. You would never see a gay couple holding hands, or looking remotely like a couple in public. I remember my aunt Mary and her partner back then could not hold hands in public, or even feel comfortable giving each other a peck on the cheek good bye. I never felt right about that. I always thought it was hugely unfair. They loved each other so much, and had been partners for decades... why on earth couldnt they hold hands like everyone else and feel comfortable?

Now I am a grown woman with my partner and I do hold her hand, and call her honey. I openly acknowledge her as my partner. I am so happy I can do this now. Even 6 years ago it was hard. I lost a job because of my realtionship with her, and we lost an apartment because the owner didnt rent to "people like us". We both were called names, and had our desks vandilized at work just last year at my previous place of employment. They refused to do anything about it, and ended up asking her to resign because they did not want to stress out the other employees.

It is unfair to discriminate against anyone simply because of how they look, or who they love, or thier religion.

If they are acting a fool... have at. Otherwise leave them be.

Thank you again for being yourself.

Gwyn
