has anyone seen it? If not, and you're planning to, don't go if you get motion sickness. The whole movie has like a Blair Witch theme that's supposed to have actual people in the movie filming so the camera shakes the whole time. 3 people in my theater had to go to the bathroom to vomit and my friend had to go outside to get fresh air...other than that it's an awesome movie :D lol

Well Blair Witch just sucked. Honestly I can't get scared from a movie =/ They're all just so predictable...and or bad. The last one that scared me was nightmare on elm street lol

Asher He and i went to see this movie Saturday...Which was funny because He had seen it Friday.... It was by far one of the most intense movies i've seen in a while.....The camera was a bit shakey but not bad, and i do get motion sickness.....
There was this one part where he was holding my hand cause i had cried cuase something sad happened, and he looked at me and put his finger to his lips to tell me to SHH.....Which was apparently supposed to be a warning that some BAD ASS FREAKY SHIT was about to go down...Please!!! Like that kind of warning worked for me...LMAO

SIlent hill was cool... though my favorite of the "new" genre of horror movies so far has got to be Stay Alive... not because it was scary (it wasnt) but because it was fun!

I LOVED Silent Hill. I wouldn't advise watching it you're on, erm, any kind of "medication". That would really freak you out.

My thoughts (without spoilers);

I personally think that the shakiness was overdone, as it detracted a bit from the movie. From a practical standpoint, it was unnecessary as quite a few hand held cameras these days have stability features to minimize that very thing. Thematically, the overuse meant that when it was used during times of panic, the potential effect was dampened. This led them to try to compensate during panic times by making it so jerky that you couldn't really tell what was going on, which disrupted the flow of the movie. The effect might have been more tolerable on a smaller screen.

They had problems deciding just how big the creature was. It had to be big enough to wreck major buildings (and a few choice landmarks), but small enough to traverse the city streets. This yielded to the creature appearing to grow or shrink from sighting to sighting. It's size was determined by story and framing needs and not visa-versa.

Final big issue; the nature of the ending was foretold by the opening sequence.

The good points; Had one decent twist. It was reasonably suspenseful without being overly predictable. They handled most of the gory bits with a measure of decorum, instead of the rub-your-face-in-it method that has been popular as of late (besides, leaving it to the imagination tends to be even worse for the viewer ).

Other than the issues, it was pretty much exactly as I expected it to be; a cross between blair witch and godzilla. I give it a C+, maybe a B-: Worth seeing if you are into that sort of thing, but not worth seeing twice.

Silent Hill breaks one of my two cardial rules about movies

1. No movies based on video games
2. No video games based on movies.

one exception, Final Fantasy: Advent Children, but do not watch it unless you have played FF7 and done an assload of side quests or you will not get it at all.

it was a fair movie and the creature was really neat, it did keep me on the edge of my seat the whole time, it was worth the 20 bucks i spent.

and i see nobody here has mentioned "The Descent"  now that is a scary movie!

Agreed. That was a good one too christine. Though I think I've become immune to fear by watching every horror movie ever made.

Amended to say EXCEPT for Wolf Creek. That scared the bejeesus out of me and I could never watch it again. Too real.
