OmegaG -> wax play (1/23/2008 7:36:01 AM)

m'Lord played with wax with me for the first time this past weekend.  It was an unique experience for me, sensual and erotic.  I was almost overwhelmed with conflicting emotions, my fear of fire and my trust in him being in sharp contrast.

Especially because of my irrational fear of fire, he wants to proceed cautiously with further play and I've been doing some research for him this week.  I thought it might be interesting to get personal points of view as well, I know everyone's feelings and perspectives will be different, of course, but were there times when you thought something wouldn't work and it turned out to be fantastic or were there ideas that sounded great but in practice just didn't live up to the fantasy?

Wax play is good. When I was a kid we played with hot wax a lot. If you have it the right temp you can do a lot with it.

heh, the wax I loved-- it was the flame that caused the dichotomy in my mind.

Case in point where you have to literally be warmed up to trying something for the first time.  There are a number of activities where people are scared senseless about doing it.

Wax play is Fantastic.  I myself reflect back to how I got started with it, It was very innocent at the time.   Dripping Wax down the side of Glass Coke Bottles to make candle holders.   Me and the Girl next door, got caught up in making these things.  Next thing you know, the sensation of getting wax on our arms or body by accident... was like WOW.. this feels Good.   Nature of things took it's natural course and we were pouring wax on each otther and notching things up more and more.   Anyways, also ended up using a knife to scrap the wax away from the skin.  I'd already been using a knife to do clean wax off from my desk.   I always had some art project or something going on at my house.   Basically my desk was not one of those neat study desks.   I had to pull out a nice smooth board to use for a writting surface.

My point is that doing an activitity such as this, may be a good way of sliding things into an actvitity.

Over the years when it's come to knife play, I have caressed my own arm and demostrated on myself how safe it can be.   I've never been into cutting somebody with a knife.  Doing a little pricking or light skin etching that's something I've done.  I had a conversation with a Domme on here once about knife play, I was a little more curious regarding the extremes.  Turns out she was into doing the same thing as me.   Not too many people are into carving somebody up like turkey.  For the most part knife play is a form of sensation play.. or an added thing for a mind fuck in acting out a scene.  Call it the fear and threat of being cut and all.

Some things just simply sound worse then what they actually are.

He's expressed an interest in knife play as well, which I am also aprehensive about... but what you describe soumds like a great segue.  Thank you

akisha -> RE: wax play (1/23/2008 1:11:49 PM)

I'm a huge fan of wax and very very much want to do fire play. I'm kind of odd tho and like to use the hotter coloured wax.

Parrafin wax can be like a really nice massage and if you want you can do an under coat of that then use the coloured wax on top to do decorating etc. If you want the wax to slide off your skin with ease when you are done, use baby oil or massage oil before you start waxing.

Don't use bees wax or really hot burning waxes. Also the pretty candles with metalic flecks get really really hot lol

My former Dom and I loved to use the big pillar candles. We'd light 12 and by the time you are done pouring the last one the first one has a good amount of liquid wax again *S*

Oh ya, a drop cloth is a good idea to help with clean up.

DesFIP -> RE: wax play (1/23/2008 1:28:36 PM)

He's only done it to me once. I loved it, he didn't much go for it alas. It was funny, because hearing about it never got me to think "ooh, yeah, I want to try it". I was indifferent and I loved it. He was the one who liked it better in fantasy than reality.

Unfortunately he adamantly refuses to try knife play. Probably because he knows I'd be wiggling all over the place in pleasure and not holding still.

i would love to learn more about  it it sounds cool

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: wax play (1/23/2008 3:08:03 PM)

wax is my fav thing.  poured all over my body especially on breasts.  unfortunately i doubt it will ever happen again...6 years ago was the last time...and for lack of finding a partner i shall miss this experience.

MissHarlet -> RE: wax play (1/23/2008 3:11:21 PM)

It can be scraped off with a sharp knife or can be flogged off or taken off with a single tail by someone with skill in useing one .. all of that makes the sensation even more intense.......

How about being blindfolded?  Or told to close your eyes and not to open them? ... This way.. yes you KNOW the flame/fire is there.. not too far from your skin - but you can perhaps "relax" a bit and "ignore" that nasty/naughty flame!  <grin>

i took showers and it came off...i just dont remember if it was hot or cold water i used to do it.... the problem i had was taking the wax off of the blanket...that took a long long time with a knife...to get to the point where could just put in wash.

azropedntied -> RE: wax play (1/23/2008 5:49:12 PM)

To do the wax exchange a flame is not always required , i often mix a flame candle  and also a 1/2 water filled crock pot  with long wax glass  cylinder type candles .That way i can drip  and  spot bomb OR pour in mass quantity too .Yes as mentioned about i too use several blades large small fixed and the OMG blades for its removable .A disposable drop type cloth is used for ease of post exchange clean up . If your the one  putting the wax upon another's body PLEASE test it and know its not high temp wax prior ,or at least know it shall not  boil burn and scar the  other receiving it ,unless i guess that is  their wish .. I have seen some leather skinned  bottoms in my time .Candles with decorative scents and sparkles  should be avoided .I have found some candles that when melted they turn into a waxy massage oil  and those hold scent too  and were fine so again that reverts back to the testing of the material prior .

Gwynvyd -> RE: wax play (1/23/2008 6:28:36 PM)

I adore wax play personaly.. to me it is like a great big warm massage. I just curl up like a cat and purr...

I like the crock pot method the best. You can get a lot of wax that way, control the temp ~ and use paraffin.
I also love knife play to accompany it to get it all off, and a sound thuddy flogging to massage out the kinks afterwords.
~ It might sound odd but to me it is like a day at the spa. LOL Paraffin wax to condition the skin, the removal, and massage by flogging.

As for my subs I like to get creative. The cute little cookie cutters you can place on the skin surrounded by paper (cut out as well) and drip wax into the mold. Carve both of your initals into the wax form it creates and you have a wonderful little keepsake. ( good for Heart shaped molds *smiles* )

Yeah I am a big ol softy...

Well here's the stuff on wax play.  But also that anything can go great or bad- I always say when you try something new you should try and give it at least three chances before you really make up your mind about it.  The first time is just all intense, second time you get a little more into it, and third time is usually enough to decide if it's working or not.  So many things can influence a scene going well or not that you don't want to just write off THAT KINK without giving it a fair shot.

I have a home spa thing for hands and feet that was given to me, would this work the same as a crock pot?

mmm, wax play - always fun. it's like having your body be turned into a giant work of art...

EvilKitty -> RE: wax play (1/23/2008 8:45:39 PM)

Yes, you definitely can use the home paraffin warmer. The crockpot has been a longtime fave of mine; I use blocks of paraffin from the grocery store in the canning section. There is a new, non-paraffin, soy-based wax that melts at a lower temp than paraffin or beeswax; excellent for play. Note of caution with crockpot wax: if ladling melted wax onto sub, watch the hollows of the body. Where the wax pools (belly buttons, pelvic girdle, breastbone), it will remain hot while the surface cools down. Keep big, soda-bottle of water (not NECESSARILY cold ;o) ) to cool wax or skin quickly. Ice(separate from your water) for burns. Also, melted wax splashes a lot; you may want to cover your sub's hair as well as yourself & your surroundings.
The links to previous chats noted by Lucky Albatross contain a ton of info, ideas, pros/cons & opinions; well worth the time to read.

HardnRuff -> RE: wax play (1/23/2008 9:48:21 PM)

I absolutely Love wax play . Its one of My all time favorites. .. But it tends to be somewhat messy... I use a candy thermometer to measure the temp and use a crock pot for a pre melt. I have not tried the soy based wax yet. .

http://www.liquidfireinc.com/order.htm    Thats a great place to get candles I have found . I  use the parafin from the grocery stores canning section like described earlier. I started out with the white Emergency candles like you can get at wal mart . They are a very low temp and great for begginers .  Avoid candles with perfumes , hardeners and other additives as they can cause a bad rash I have found. A skin rash on the genitals or nipples is not omly uncomfortable , but can cause infection as well .
Avoid candles with stearic acid as this raises the melting point  . As a rule of thumb wax  temps at skin contact should nevr be above 135 % farenheit and ideal would be between 120 to 125 %. .. Always test a small area on the body before you go all out . I tend to hold the candles at at least 18 inches above the skin to drip it. Bees wax tends to burn a lil hotter than parafin so be carefull with it .. Great article and thanks for posting this .
