GADomCpl -> Military (8/31/2005 8:06:38 AM)

I was just reading a post in one of the other groups that spoke about a sub who was (from my best guess) in the military. Being in the military myself, I was just curious how many other people in here were either in the military themselves or had a sub that is in.

well, Brother......I'm a Dom and I'm a combat vet. been in the lifestyle less than a year. I'm Pretty sure there are others and some may not want to make that known.

Faramir -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 9:23:41 AM)

Just in the military, or military/former military who are submissive?

I did 15 sat years in the Corps, left as a Major.

IronBear -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 9:46:06 AM)

I'm ex Military.

MrThorns -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 10:17:45 AM)

11 years Army and still at it...

greenie -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 11:10:25 AM)

it has been my experience that a vast number of military men are pretty dominant even if they don't realize they are and i have to admit a certain draw myself to military men. However, i refuse to ever be involved with a man, ltr, who is currently enlisted...former military wife.

which is actually very interesting when you consider that the gay leather movement originated from ex military men many of whom believed they should be submissive in order to learn the ways of dominance.

well SEMPER FI BROTHER. now I won't feel as bad when I ask questions I feel may be dumb.

Faramir -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 12:38:57 PM)

There is a group of people who are generally well disposed towards the US military, who aver that service members are or tend towards dominance. They often have family in the military, and they see dominance as superior to submission for men, and this suits their expectations.

There is another group of people who bear a grudge against the military, who delight in the idea of all those rough, tuff guys secretly being little submissives - for them submission is shameful, a pejorative that belies the supposed leadership inculcation that hapens in the US military.

Both of these attitudes reflect a fundamental confusion between leadership (a suite of character traits, virtues) and your power orientation in intimacy (which role makes your genitals engorge). The two are unrelated. All kinds of people join the US military, there is usually more than one motivation behind their joining, and until I see a broad clinical survey on sexual orientation among service members I am going to assume that there is prolly a mix.

SirWaverider -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 12:49:56 PM)

I believe I can agree with that. My apologies if I misunderstand. what You're saying is basically, being military doesn't mean a person coming into the lifestyle is automatically a Dominant? it all depends on what the person turn ons are??.....hey what can I say I was with arty we try to keep it simple..LOL

SweetDommes -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 1:42:29 PM)

LOL, the guy in question is not military, but we have noticed a trend of kinksters in the military. The first boy that we played with was Army, and we've talked with multiple others from all branches. We've probably talked to more military men than non-military in the last few years.

SirWaverider -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 2:50:10 PM)

this is true..so many have come into the lifestyle. BUT I think Ga was wondering how many were in the military are subs....I'm not sure..must be the sleep deprivation. LOL

sub4hire -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 8:51:25 PM)

I was once in the military. My dom was in the military. Even through Desert Storm.

Fndrywmn -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 10:11:15 PM)

My Master is retired from the Air Force.

GoddessDustyGold -> RE: Military (8/31/2005 11:26:35 PM)

One of My live-out boys is currently serving. And I have been contacted by quite a few military. Submissives.

UtopianRanger -> RE: Military (9/1/2005 2:26:39 AM)

Did four year in the Marines, left as an E-5. Didn't want to stay in, but learned a lot, traveled and had a good time

By the way Faramir, I meant to commend you the other day when you mentioned going through the enlisted ranks first, and then on to OCS. You didn't see that too often when I was in.

That means you've been down in the mud with the Dirt people.

I have a fetish for military men... Does that count? <weg>

[I had been staying away from this thread because I thought it was political, but someone emailed me asking why I hadn't checked in.]

One reason I chose the Marines is because they aren't big on "ring knockers" from the academies. When I joined David M. Shoup was commandant. He was an ARMY ROTC graduate.

A large number of the officers in Second Force Recon were also mustangs.

THAT's the way to run a military organzation [grin]

OscarHargraves -> RE: Military (9/1/2005 7:26:14 AM)

I'm retired military with over 36 years service. My Sub loves the fact that I'm a 'military' man.

Thanks for your kind words. It was unintentional - I was in an officer program (PLC), got kicked out the second summer for being a fatbody, and felt so humiliated by that I enlisted - sort of knew I had to redeem myself. I made it back to OCS a few years later as a Cpl. So it was OCS, THEN Boot Camp (PI) THEN OCS again.

Phew - I wish I had got it right the first time to tell you the truth. But yea, I learned a lot, and I sure am glad I made my early, young mistakes as a Cpl and not as a Lt - I hurt less people that way.

Thanks for your faithful service - thanks to all of you who served.

Urrrrrrrrrrr.
