You were still in diapers back in my time boy. Seems your military experience failed you when it came to teaching you anything about respect.

His attitude is quite common. ROTC has a terrible reputation among the enlisted. It is largely viewed a political machine that cranks out butter bars made of clueless college boys. ROTC officers are largely resented for the "easy" in. But they are also widely disliked because quite honestly most of them lack any real comprehension of how the military works. Almost any enlisted soldier who has any experinece being under the command of a ROTC 2nd Lt will have quite the barrel-full of stories detailing their incompetance and naivete. Not to say all ROTC officers are at all bad. I myself was under the command of an excellant officer who came from the ROTC program (even while he was a butter bar). However, what made him an excellant officer was the understanding that he needed to get a grasp of "ground level reality". Most ROTC officers are not so wise.

Respect and disrespect are earned. The ROTC program's candidates have earned themselves that shit-poor reputation.

I ended up doihg 5 years 'nam time with that and then many years running merc opps as well as a few other things I still get P.T.S.D. at times but these days I know what triggers it and can usually either avoid it or at least reduce it's effects.... It's still left me chronically claustrophobic though....  I was lucky in 'nam, I had the sence to let a couple of Sgt types teach me my trade. I know a few good officers who started in nam green and survived with excelent combat leadership skills thanks to them taking the same route.

It's funny, because I see a fair amount of gentlemen to whom military service is a job, but submission is within their heart.  The same seems to ring true in the emergency services fields.

Well thank you for your service, Faramir.

I've never had anything hotter than a jarhead in class A's kneeling before me!
