It does boil down to the when does life begin question. To me it does not begin when sperm meets the egg.... how is that a human life? Hold on... hold on.... it's in- it's a human being. If the fetus is not self-sustaining, to me it's not a life but a potential life. Sperm in one test tube and an egg in another test tube is also a potential life- just mix.
Hi Lady Angel, this is my belief too, until a foetus is able to survive outside of the woman carrying it, it is part of the woman, her body, her emotional and physical health, and her final decision.
Just as an aside, I was reading an article at Second Look Project...an anti abortion site... one of its points was regarding pressuring a woman to have an abortion and this was mentionedAn on-line survey of women who had abortions showed that many women feel pressured by the baby’s father: 85% of fathers offered no encouragement to continue the pregnancy. When women said they wanted to continue the pregnancy, the fathers’ dominant reactions were; “Slightly Upset 60%, Mad 38%, Very Angry 43%”, compared to “Happy .7%.” 73% of fathers suggested an abortion.
Now I dont have much regard or love of statistics they can be so screwed, I just found it interesting.
Personally I think all male babies should be vascectomied at birth....to be reversed when said male is able to fulfill his responsibilities as a prospective father. no issues with contraceptives failing, no health issues for females taking hormones to prevent pregnancy, no female "trapping a man" (altho Im not dumb enough to realise that this would ever happen, its sooooooooooo barbaric and invasive!!!!!)
but hey thats just my thought, YMMV
Anyone want some chocolate?
Oh and I dont think a woman should be punished for an abortion. Its not for me, but I certainly would have put off having kids a few more years if I knew then what I know now. Its not just the nine months , its the rest of your life.
