aaaahhh...that all makes sense thinkingkitten.  she is 7 years old and  hasn't been spayed...she has been abused and moved around a lot. i'm being very patient and watching out for my hands lol.  great idea on not pulling my had away although it might prove to be most difficult but i think i can do it.  i feel so sorry for her and her horrible life, i just wish she could understand that i only want to make her happy and comfortable...hopefully she'll learn these things with time and not too much of it.

Kudos to you for taking her on, and giving her a chance at a better life!  Seriously then, get her spayed, and give it about a month afterwards for the hormones to clear her system - it will make a world of difference. You'll also minimise the risk of her attempting to spray urine around the place as well. You might have to pay a little bit more for the operation, seeing as how she is now a "mature" cat, which makes it a little trickier to spay them.
