What is it that people sometimes say on this board? That there are no truly dominant women? No 100% Dommes or something? Is it true that this is some kind of repeated debate? Why? Why on earth would some people think that there are no truly dominant women while there are truly dominant men? Seriously, this is an opinion that is kind of commonly held in the kink community?

The only people I have heard say thing like that are the Male Doms that beleive that deep inside every woman is submissive. I have found that they are usualy the arrogant ones that think that they are right and everyone else is wrong. The other people I have heard talking/thinking along those lines are those men in to Gor. Willow

Also, some people equate brute strength and force with dominance. They fail to consider that we have these big brains that give us a greater means of domination than sheer body strength. MNN

Men, in general, seem to be tougher. In Psych, you learn that young boys often speak in orders while young girls are more cordial and likely to make a suggestion instead, more carefully listening to their peers. In growing up, you learn that leaders must make tough decisions and not be caught crying.. much like what many are told about boys, but many have seen a large number of girls being upset and pissy. So, in general, it seems to be that a man is more likely to be dominant than a woman. For those who believe there are no truly dominant women, this generalization has probably been taken too far, to an absolute, confusing "men are more likely to be dominant" with "men are the only dominant ones". Then, of course, there are the opinions I'm sure a lot of Domme's will offer that they're just so threatening to men. And, of course, there will be the opinions I'm sure a lot of Dom's will offer that all women are just naturally submissive. Two sides of a coin, right? :P

Unless you can prove that it's all culture, I find it unlikely that it entirely lacks a biological component. After all, don't males naturally have more tetosterone (sp?) which is known to be a cause for aggression and territorial nature? Further, what reason do any of us have to believe that men and women are psycologically similar when it comes to dominant nature? However, regardless of why men tend to be more dominant, my point is that women can also be dominant.. but the fact that men tend to be dominant more often is taken too far as people believe it to be that all men are dominant, that no women are. PS- There's also the notion that because men tend to be the more dominant gender that, even when a woman is dominant, she lacks the ability to be perfectly dominant.. since whatever causes women to be less dominant in the first place must be afflicting her, too. This idea is probably a large factor, and it's rather similar to an over generalization.

Because there are foolish people everywhere who will believe only what they want to believe regardless if it is based on fact or not. I am truly Dominant and I am a woman, period. I know this to be a fact and so do most other people, but there are some who would disagree solely based upon my gender. Those are the people that I just ignore because as my Mom used to say "Ignorance is sometimes best ignored". I live my life the way I see fit and do not hold it to anyone else's standard. ~Lashra
