i have one "chirala" (my 4-year-old great niece can't quite say chihuahua) & Jack Russell Terrier mix, named Spike the Amazing Wonder Dog...Spike was feral in New Orleans when Katrina struck...the rescue organization from the town i lived in brought back 18 dogs for adoption...nobody could catch Spike, so the president of the organization made him her "special project"...needless to say, she won & i adopted him about 3 weeks after she caught him...when i got him, he knew nothing about being a pet, i had to teach him everything...i taught him how to play, i taught him what toys are for--he still doesn't see the fun in balls, though--i taught him how to do all the normal domesticated canine things...& i had never been able to train a dog before, so he has taught me too...we've been together nearly every moment since i brought him home in October, 2005...he's now my co-driver on the truck...his best friend was a pit bull named Coco, who we had to take to a home in South Dakota because we weren't allowed to keep her in our apartment...damn racists!!!
in April, the Vet said he could probably live another 6 months before his liver, heart &/or lungs would give up...Spike has proven him wrong & appears to be here for the long haul.....[:)]
