My least favorite song in the world is most definitely MacArthur Park (someone left the cake out in the rain). I can't really pick one favorite, sorry.

BEST: 'Something' by George Harrison. It's been covered and released commercially over 150 times. No less an authority than Frank Sinatra called it "The greatest love song ever written"; although wrongly attributing it to Lennon & McCartney when it performed it. WORST: "Seasons in the Sun" - Terry Jacks (1974) If you haven't heard it consider yourself blessed. The best song ever made was "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. A very close second is "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns 'n Roses. The worst song ever made: anything by Norah Jones! [:'(]

Bob I like your taste- saw King Crimson live a couple of decades ago- but have to admit, my favorite of theirs is in the Court of the Crimson King. Its hard to pick a favorite- at this minute, it's Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street- I have a weakness for a good sax. In terms of worst stuff though- agree with the McCartney X-mas song- hate all those songs where they get everybody and his uncle on stage- I've heard high school choirs that sound far better. I must be a weirdo though- I like Randy Newman's Short People and Thomas Dolby's She Blinded me with Science. and MacArthur Park just should not be taken seriously..... Sam

My vote for worst song ever goes to "Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro. "Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks would get a close second. Best song ever? Can't pick just one. Lady Topaz

agreed on the umbrella thing, I cant comment because there are so many good songs out there, pre black album metallica, ACDC, Skynard, Hendrix, Rush, Tool, Queen. how to narrow it down? Worst... if its pop or rap, it is pretty much shit. beyond that... cant tell either

there are lots of "worsts" in my opinion, but the one that instantly came to mind when i saw the thread title was George Michael "guilty feet have got no rhythm"...WTF???? also lots & losts of bests, but that might just be cause i've lived a long time & have heard lots & lots of music by now.....

Humm... what could classify as the "Plan 9" of pop songs? Man... let's take a look at some of the contenders: Undercover Angel 99 Luft Ballons Green Slime The Blob Tainted Love I Like Traffic Lights (Monty Python) Seasons in the Sun Sugar Sugar (The Archies) Eep Oop Ork Ah Ah.. (the Jetsons) (There was another one from the Flintstones, but I've blissfully forgotten it) (Oh, yeah, and there was that annoying folk/protest song from the "Space Hippy" episode of Star Trek) It's a Small World After All The best? Wow... tall order. Probably something by the Eagles, or Kate Bush... impossible to choose just one.
