Alright, too much gloom and doom. Too many unsolvable deep thoughts.

I have to give people something to laugh about, even if it is at my own expense.

I believe I have mentioned that I manage a small printing company. Manage meaning, I just tell the guys what to do and do whatever needs to be done that they cannot do.

So, I am standing back by the pressroom at a big digital copier, entering a job, and I find myself doing something that causes me to stop and shake my head and laugh.

To explain. My lead pressman has been on a weird kick with his stereo system back there, listening to some jazz station that, overall isn't bad.....some is actually quite good, BUT some does not really appeal to me either. No biggy, it keeps him happy and that is a good thing around here. Besides, I only halfass hear it anyway. Well, as I am walking through I half notice that the song playing reminded me of "old lady dept store shopping". I bet most of you know what I mean but for those that don't I shall explain. Around here, in malls, we have slick dept stores that tend to cater to ladies of a "certain age". In these stores they tend to play a certain type of music. Often times even by a distinguished gentleman sitting at a piano. It is a sort of piano instrumental jazz that just goes on and on and on......... and I don't really care for it.

Okay, so.......after acknowledging that I associate this music with upper middle class elderly women shopping. AND acknowledging that I don't particularly CARE for this music.......I found myself standing in front of a big copier doing a jiggy little dance TO THE MUSIC!

I believe I am losing my mind.....I was dancing BY MYSELF, to old lady shopping music!

Now, does anyone else dare to open themselves up to such ridicule to humor the rest of us?

Sure, but I like yours waaaayyyyy better. Ridicule me this:

I just found out Sue (my minivan) has to have some repair work to the tune of $1800-$2000. What do I do?

I started to cry. Top that shit.

Well if you don't have the money......it's understandable. There is just no excuse for getting jiggy to old lady shopping music.

oh my... i have wayyyyy too many "so i admit i'm a dork" stories, i could pages with them.    i don't suppose there is any video evidence of your little dance is there? lol

Well i guess i can admit that there was a gentleman trying to hit on me in convience store once, he was black, attractive and had smiled at me, so i smiled to him in return as i was walking out.  He stopped me and asked if i liked chocolate.  i am certain i must have had the "huh, i'm just a dumb ass cracker" look on my face as i looked over at the candy bars, and asked... what, you mean like hersheys??  ~sigh~  hopeless... i am simply hopeless! At the very least he got a good laugh out of the goofy clueless white girl!

Next they're going to wonder why you installed a seatbelt on your office chair.

Oh, what fun to laugh about people doing what I find myself doing from time to time. Dancing to music I don't really like, crying over things I can't do much about (and naming my cars, too), and humming 'earworms.' That last is the worst, because I can't get it out of my head. The community chorus I'm in is rehearsing for our spring concert, which is Broadway tunes. I won't torture you with some of the earworms we are singing. (Although we are doing some really good ones, including "For Good" from "Wicked.")

My son, who is now 23, and I went to an afternoon matinee showing at our local cinema. We had sneakily shopped for food prior to going in so that we could munch away while watching. We arrived 15 minutes prior to the film starting, we were the ONLY persons in the room. We were feeling very silly and listening to the goofy music playing we got up, ran to the screen area and began dancing around like loons mimicking flapper-style dancing. Giggling inanely the music stopped, we turned around only to be faced with around 25 people that had begun filling their seats, and who broke into enthusiastic claps to show their appreciation of their pre-film entertainment!

They (whoever they is)say the first step is admitting you have a problem.

A while back I was in a busy mall with my bf and we were walking through the food court area, and of course they had an A&W. Out of the blue we both began humming that song and a couple minutes later, we embarrassingly realized we both were also dancing just like the A&W bear to the song. Now each time we pass an A&W, we can't help but burst out laughing at the memory!

Gawd, talk about one of life's most idiotic moments!

I have sung, and danced, down the grocery store isle to the horrid "grocery store music". Much to the entertainment of fellow shoppers.

The problem is that I suck at both dancing and singing. Oh well, not my problem.

The way I figure, if I can't let my inner child out and act childish sometimes and make fun and laugh at myself, I may as well be dead! I may have to grow older but I don't have to grow up  lol.
