My Reply:

Who cares? Nothing anyone else does, will do, or has done will ever effect what I choose to do, how I live my life, or what decisions I make. I don't own the 'lifestyle' I LIVE it, and how I live it is solely dependant on how I want to live it. Just. Like. Everyone. Else.

kinkypuppy2 -> RE: Is our life style disintegrating so fast that there is no hope? (1/24/2008 10:36:42 PM)

Is it disintegrating ?  No
It is however coming more and more out of the closent, and with that yes the cooks and wannabes. But in my opinion coming out and standing up is a good thing.

ChainedExistence -> RE: Is our life style disintegrating so fast that there is no hope? (1/25/2008 12:09:58 AM)

I am with those who say the lifestyle is what you make it. And ever the optimist I am, I don't see it as a disintegrating entity. If anything, it's easier for those who want to find out more because there is so much information available. Sure, you have to sift through a lot to figure out what works for you, but think how hard it used to be.  People probably always had an interest in BDSM before, but not the means of entry that today's environment offers. How does anyone's choice to be a "weekend" slave diminish who or what I am? How does "slaves telling Masters what to do"  negate my Master's authority over me? It doesn't. In the end, we all have to build the best relationships we can for ourselves. I am in awe of the very public figures if only because my occupation doesn't afford me that luxury, but that doesn't make them any better or worse than me. I'm not going to say that I think it's all the same- "the meat hooks through the back, beat you till you're bloody crowd" are doing very different things from the "naughty school school" fantasy players, but what's wrong with having every type of player? There's more than enough variety to satisfy anyone's tastes and desires. Maybe it's all about attitude and a willingness to embrace change. What else is exactly the same as it was 20 years ago and why would you want anything to remain stagnant?

"I thank God for every day he lets me be in my chosen lifestyle, and so will my slaves.[sm=whoa.gif] - MasterGcs "

So this is the tagline/signiture at the end of the OP's post.

My question is....
Why does he CARE what other peoples 'chosen lifestyle' is? Seems like its going to become harder and harder to find people your age who fit your 'lifestyle' as the decades go on, no matter WHAT kind of lifestyle that is.

Young people have always tweaked what came before and reincorporated it. Some young people are traditonalists and read the Marquee De Sade, some young people listen to Harry Potter off their blackberry while driving down the road.

ALT.COM and Collarme don't 'disintigrate' the lifestyle-but if its your only outlet it might seem that way-the internet has always been a differnt social world than real life. They just mix up several 'twue' lifestlyes together with a touch of myspace and all the posers (of every variety) the internet has always had everywhere.

right or wrong, Subcultures and lifestyles have always changed with time-its maybe the only constant there is to subcultures and lifestyles. Rock 'n Roll didn't 'disintigrate' as Elvis evolved into the Beatles evolved into Nirvanna evolved into ect., it just grew into something that fit into a newer generation. But nothing is stopping the older generations, and younger fans alike, from getting together to talk about what a great guy elvis was.

If you're going to scene parties at trendy nightspots or contemporary dungeons run by twenty and thirty-year old pros, than obviously these things arn't going to be stuck in the seventies.

You have your old gaurd behind closed doors (as it always, mostly, was and where it still thrives, as I understand), I'll have the D/s relationship which makes my Madame happy.

-edited because I often spell like I'm writing a resume to become the villiage idiot.

FR to the OP:

Usually when I see people saying the things you are they are missing the days of having every s type genufect false respect where they have not earned it.  Yeah "your lifestyle" is gone as far as what the general trend is.  Get over it.  You actually have to talk to people, learn about them and approach them as human beings.  You don't get to smack someone around that doesn't know anything about you and eek omg there are collared submissives!  Horrible thing, isn't it?

I'm not sure how it really hinders you one bit that there are many others out there that don't feel the way you do.  If someone doesn't believe in your dogmatic fantasies, move on and find another.  Unfortunately there are plenty on these sites that do so you are not alone.  However, I would suggest instead of rebelling against the healthy evolution of the lifestyle you might want to stop and actually consider why it's happened and whether your own views need evolution as well.  I'm not really getting the feeling you will however, which is tragic for you.

Yes it did change in the last years. IF this is good or bad...mmmm not sure.
So many people here now, which means more opinions, more fakes(?), more fights...but best more advise.
But as others said, you need to make the best of it, if you like it. Filter out the bad...and keep enjoying.

The Disintegration of a Lifestyle

Is our life style disintegrating so fast that there is no hope? Are the ALT.com’s and the collarme.com’s etc. so dilluting my beloved life style, that there is no chance of recovery? Can any real Master or slave survive the onslaught of miss information and just plain wrong people? I cannot truly imagine what the “NEW” Master’s must be going through in order to find their way, in a lifestyle that has become filled with slaves telling Masters what to do, with Masters handing out collars of consideration, with “weekend” slaves? And I will not even start with my thoughts on collared submissive’s. Am I the only one who is feeling this way? 20 years ago this was a Lifestyle that had an occasional fetish, and NOW it seems to be a Fetish with the occasional Lifestyle.

Whatever happened to each his own? Is your way the only twue way? Would you mind defining a real slave or real Master? Maybe I need to spend less time in the community and more time researching on the internet [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m21.gif[/image]what a revelation!

To the OP, like things have been doing for the past 4.6 billions years, we adapt. In this instance, if we don't want to adapt we look the other way. Who cares what other people are doing if it doesn't affect us? Surely a collar of consideration, or ten million collars of consideration, don't make a ripple in your Dominant gene pool.

DesFIP -> RE: Is our life style disintegrating so fast that there is no hope? (1/25/2008 5:07:38 AM)

This beloved collared submissive has been around for forty years, growing up in a gay community filled with old leather types. I can assure you that me being in a D/s relationship for over four years is something that they never saw. The old leather types I knew when young were lucky to make high season with the same partner.

I'll take a long term committed relationship with someone that values me, anyday over the posturing of someone who wants the rights but not the responsibilities.

What is so wrong with change?  When in any time frame to date has "our beloved lifestyle" been socially accepted on a broad scale?  Then as now it is a difference from the "normal" life  all your peers are living so you still have that in common with all the rest of us social degenerates bringing down your way of life :-p  I mean damn for someone who has all the answers you should know that life at its best is constant change and growth.  Every thing changes people, societies, lifestyles, and many other such topics.  The people who adapt are the ones who seem best able to cope with this and maintain their "lifestyle".  If you see us, the next generation of your beloved lifestyle, as threatening then you should take a step back and look at why you feel threatened.  If it is because we are different, get over it or try and make a differnce in your own way by mentoring us.

Is your beloved lifestyle anything like the beloved core?
