it felt like? Submit to a Pro to get a feel of what a sub/slave feels? Submit to whatever sexual activities you personally consider submissive acts in order to view and feel it from the other side, as it were?

Do you think it might make you a better Dom/Domme to have experienced all that you intend to 'inflict' (for want of a better word) on your sub/slave?

Not to a pro. When testing out a new impliment I will use it on myself in some fashion to get a feel for it. If my vict- err sub wants a crack at wielding it on me (provided they can safely take a whack without putting out my eye or their own.) then they're welcome to it.

What I feel in an intense session may not be what they feel, their reactions could be completely different from my own, so I don't think an 'extensive' test from the bottom has any bearing on how things would go with me topping someone else.

If I wanted an excuse to get beat on? Sure I'd go for it, I have my masochistic moments. As for submitting? No. I'd bottom to a pain session, I have no interest in 'submission' to another.

I don't "submit" submission is not in my nature, however I will "bottom" and order my sub to flog me occasionally. I like the way it feels phyiscally and mentally I get a control rush as I tell him how many strokes, how hard, the pace at which he is to deliver them and when to stop.This also serves to put him in a very submissive mind space so it works for both of us and its fun.

Interesting question.

I'd probably experiment with being submissive, except that my pet is as far from dominant as you'll ever get. He does top occasionally, in the most literal/physical sense of the term, and I'd say it's been a good learning experience. I know a little more now about what he goes through. And it was kind of fun, as a once-in-a-blue-moon thing.

Nope, not me. I can tell her what to do but I am still in control so its not subbie at all and I dont really have the equipment to take what she does except for maybe the crop which quite frankly it still amazes me how she does it. One thing I can say is that after a good scene I have to pause a moment and in my thoughts just go "WOW!"

Dear venusinblu, Ladies and Gentlemen;

The experiences from a slave perspective has always been an influence to my administration and philosophy as a Dominant woman. I've never asked a slave to do more than I ever did. And, should I do so--I am sure it would weed out the many who would wish to serve me.

I will further add, that striving to be a better Dominant never stops, as far as I am concerned--to include being the best person I can be to the rest of humanity.

Just some thoughts.

I do not "submit" nor do I bottom. It is not what I do.

Nor do I think bottoming makes for a better dominant per se. There are numerous ways to connect and establish empathy with the bottom in a scene; shared experience is but one way.

If anything, I enjoy the "not knowing" what my slave experiences. Not having the experience myself, she must therefore explain it to me--and that is where I find the true intimacy of a scene.

how can one who is not sub feel what it is to be sub?

sure a dom can go through the physical motions but they are not going to ever experience these things in the same manner a sub will because they are not submissive... doms & subs are simply wired differently in this regard

Personally I was raised in a fashion very akin to being everyone's slave so I don't think I need to sub consensual to get empathy for that -- I have quite a bit of empathy all ready.

When I was starting out it was even more common to say you have to "start on the bottom" so I tried it -- learned it was a bad idea for me. Frightening your top is never good especially when it's automatic and not conscious.

Philosophically I also believe that each person is motivated differently and reacts differently. I could not learn much about Fox by my submitting or bottoming. Nor could I learn anything about Fox by comparing him to another sub or slave or masochist.

If i can take each person as an individual and have enough empathy and skill to do that, then in my opinion I would be mature enough or capable enough to be doing BDSM in the first place.

The thing is, I think I would top - I think it would make me a better submissive .. In fact, I plan to .. I appreciate that mere stimulus alone does not predispose our sexual responses, but I feel that it might be important to me as a person for me to walk both tightropes ..

Yes, the question has been asked before. Actually, I think it's on several of the boards under different sections.

Your question, however, does have one element that isn't in the others. While I have bottomed before, and would even go so far as to say that I would bottom again, it wouldn't be to a pro. The last few times that this actually happened, it was for another Top to learn a few things, so the scenerio doesn't fit for Me to bottom to pro.
