My favorite pizza is the one I make myself.

I stack it with layers of meat (usually a lot of lean hamburger meat) and cheeses, with mushrooms.

Cooked correctly, the layers of cheese binds it altogether, like an edible brick.

One piece is a full meal.

Kudos to anyone with enough patience to make their own pizza.

I cook a lot, but pizza is not on my list. There's too many outstanding pizzas to choose from in Chicago. Thin crust, Chicago style, is my favorite.

i also prefer mine home made...i make a crust to die for and i love lots of spicy sauce as a base...lots of sauce!  the ingredients are debatable and usually i add what my kids want at the time, i'm open to anything as far as pizza goes, but my favorite is anchovy/jalapeno.

I never can duplicate the effect of a GOOD oven at home with the consumer grade oven w/o a CLEAN cycle. And propping the door open and tossing it into clean always seemed to "Not UL Listed" for my taste.

Of course, being in NY, there are perhaps 50 pizza places within a reasonable delivery distance. ( Mostly *all* New York Neopolitian and or NY "Style"... Although you'll find "NY Style" referred to as "Brooklyn Style", although Brooklyn doesn't have a franchise on the style... Go figure. ) The real question is "Who can get the best product here FASTEST". No one wants to wait an hour and a half for delivery NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE PIZZA IS. If you don't have options, you *might*. But no one wants to.

Gratuitious Plugs:

Sovrana's in Albany ( non-traditional for New York, but they did our wedding cake... )

and Joe & Pat's Pizzeria on Victory Blvd out on Staten Island.
