I have decided to erase most of my profiles and accounts on various websites because it seems I come across the wrong way to many people. I see others that get alot of attention and emails and hear about it from people on various forums or rare private conversations I have had. I have also emailed plent and plenty of others to get zero responses. In my emails I have been polite and friendly. On my profiles I am always sincere, honest and to the point about what I am looking for but it seems I just come across the wrong way to people.....I am preparing to delete this profile and start anew but wanted to ask everyone this question. When you are looking at a profile what is it 'personality wise' that turns you on, and what is it that turns you off? Please be honest with me so I know where I have been going wrong. I am not going to change my personality to fit any one person's view of what is right but maybe I can learn to come across in a better way to people in general. I never did develope many social skills like other people my age so I've always been kinda bad in that area. I would really appreciate the help and honesty because I am starting to think people just don't like me, or don't like something about me because I don't seem to make many friends or connections on here...so back to the question. What do you look for that turns you on about a persons profile, and what kind of things said turn you off or make you feel intimidated? And which kinds of profiles are you more likely to respond to?

My only advice to you is to be yourself. That always comes across; that and consistency. Being confident is also attractive as is humor; worrying too much about people online is not really useful. You cannot really expect too much from an online site; so if you make friends and connections, that is great. It's not the profile so much, I believe, as being active on the forums; I find those people to be the most interesting as they have lots to say and you get to know certain people by their posts and are drawn to them and they to you.

Hi summerblossom. I am going to assume that you have deleted any information about you cause otherwise i would recommend filling them out. I personally do not get a ton of emails either though on the up side i also do not get rude responces ect. I personally think that you should be yourself. I read the forums and view profiles to get a sense of people. There is no right or wrong though there is a right or wrong for me personally. Now it says that you are a lesbian so you will be battling the same issues as many of the men who complain that women do not contact them back. Just keep trying and be you and ensure that you are also getting involved in your community.

In looking at your current profile, um, well, there's nothing there to see one way or another (no pics, no info, etc). I like to see lots of interests - happy people doing happy things. I get turned off by long lists of negative expectations and rigid dislikes. Be who you are. Do what you like to do. Show it. That's the only way the right people can recognize you - if you don't hide in the first place.

well i did have a very full profile with alot of interests and some of what i was looking for but i took it all off recently....im generally not a happy person...i have long term depression...i am working on it though and do not show that side of me to strangers if i can help it

I understand. I suffered from hard core suicidal depression pretty consistently from the age of 12 on. It's a hard road out, but it can be done.

I look for honesty, sincerity, and a person who seems to deliver thoughtful insights on the various issues that are discussed. Intelligence, creativity, good spelling and grammar, and a sense of openness are all turn-ons for me. Those who use an abundance of attitude or simply react with malice aforethought don't even get a second glance from me.
