forget who you are talking to and say something lifestyle to vanilla acquaintances? I use the same name online for everything. My profile is fairly vanilla. I even use it for *work* (some freelance stuff I do from home).

How about in person? It's strange, how sometimes I will say something I mean totally innocently, then *another* meaning dawns on me and I laugh. Kinda like a private joke.

Anyone have any good stories of how they said something that could be taken more than one way and had someone look at them like they were nuts when they smiled or laughed?

I've slipped up at work. I cover by mentioning "her" in handcuffs. (Yeah, Doms, you are cover.)

There is also the old Rodney Dangerfield joke about having been so long since I had sex I forgot who gets tied up. That cuts the tension and at leasts gets everyone laughing, allbeit nervously.

I accidently said " On your knees slut! " to my Mother once. Luckily she is hard of hearing and thought I said " Hi Mom".

Oh, I have done this more often then I would like to think about. LOL

Make the statement "I want to get home before the Master does" and watch all your female friends heads snap to attention. LOL

My closest friends are either in the lifestyle or have been. So sometimes things will be said, and we'll look at each other and just start snickering. When we're together, we tend to say things to each other that have underlying meanings.

Take care,

:::laughing:: wait a minute,, a mother hard of hearing? My kids will tell you I could hear them call someone a name from 2 miles down the street :) Between that and the eyes on the back of the head, they were always watching out for mom!

Maybe it's an age thing? Hell, Race may be lucking out as I keep getting older (one more year down today), I a may not be as *quick* to catch things in the years to come~

I remember a while back where we were talking about certain do's and don't for our work rules, and the comment was made that if they broke a certain rule they should be publicly flogged. I just couldn't resist..

Had say.. I can bring the flogger...

Happy Birthday Sandy! I hope you got sufficient spankings (but do NOT let them convince you that the appropriate number of spankings is equal to the year you were born. BTDT. Who every thought 1968 was such a big number? OUCH!)

Hope you had a great day :)

One of my favorite retorts in the vanilla world is to smile at people and say "When I want your opinion I will beat it out of you."

They generally think I am talking about my martial arts background...

M. Sandy - belated birthday wishes

and to reply to your initial question, while I dont have a specific story, I have 'slipped' on occasion, as I am sure everyone in the lifestyle has - luckily I live in an area where doggy style sex is considered kinky, so I am generally met with blank looks when I do slip (okay, so I am exaggerating a little bit, but not a whole lot)

Apply usual caveats here

I refer to my graduate associate professor as Mistress to everyone I talk to. And they don't even bat an eye because if she was in the community, that's exactly what she'd be. It's kind of funny because I'm the ONLY graduate associate she's ever had that she didn't fire within the first semester. I ended up working for her for the entire year. No one can understand how I was able to both handle working for her for that long, and not piss her off and get fired like everyone else.

I would like to have just came out and said it, but honestly, a service submissive who has lived his life in slavery to women really fits in well with a demanding, attractive professor who cares little for his personal needs.

I am famous for saying, "you need to be whipped, boy" , or "be a good boy and I may allow you to buckle my shoe." in my smooth voice, with a smile. Lifestyle, or vanilla, the reaction is generally the same.

Belated Blessings on your birthday Sandy!!!

My friends know what I get up to, two of my siblings do, and I think my mother has a pretty good idea. Most of the people I hang out with are very clued up on the kink stuff I do.

A few folks at my current work place may have some idea, but really, it doesn't bother me. I don't hide what I get up to, but I don't tell everyone.

When I worked in child care, some of the women there were incredibly naive (though they all know a lot more now, after they all found out, which is another story), and one day, after a weekend away with a bunch of kinksters, and my ex and I had the caning lesson (me, of course, being the victim), one of the girls told me the most exciting thing she did on the weekend was try on her new pyjamas. Early.

I just smiled as I sat down very carefully, thinking about telling her what I did, but only to shock the crap out of her.

that's great. Personally, I'm about as open a book as anyone could be... I don't hide who I am... don't really volunteer information, but people asking questions had better be prepared to get answers! LOL

Midear Kiki-

I am much the same- don't hide it, will answer a direct question with a direct answer (I did dance about it a bit when my exe's sixteen y.o. sister asked me about the leather pride pin on my jacket, I'll admit<g>).

A few years back, my sister and her husband stopped by on a Sunday to drag my self and the girl of the moment out to bunch, and my sister ran in to use the bathroom, which required passing through the livingroom, which was still strewn with implements and accutrments, with chains literally hanging from the ceiling, and a full barebody press-print of her against the bathroom mirror, where I had just finished taking her when they pulled up. At the time, my thought was mostly concerned with the general mess, as opposed to what it was a mess _of_.

Anyway, I did notice she was a bit subdued when she came out, and while we were waiting for a table, I drew her aside and made said something along the lines of "sorry bout the mess- was it disturbing for you to see that? Imean, thought you knew I did that stuff ..."(which she did- I dated and tied up her best friend for a while while we were in highschool).

She replied "Oh yeah- I knew you did that stuff- I just never really _KNEW_ you did that stuff!" Over the years, we've gotten closer, and today, I could say for example "oh- Bailey's a service submissive.", and she'd know what it meant.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

Then your sister would be doing better than most of the kinksters I know. Most don't really understand it until they see it in action.

My very dear-

Actually, I don't know if she really has a deep grasp, but I recall discussing it with her, and offering that some come to submission via masochism, some through the disire to please their partner, and some of the wrinkles/shades in the spectrum.

E. is pretty cool- I am hoping you'll get to meet her in August.

Stay warm,

Lawrence

It's interesting that I just read your post here and I realized that over the last year, I have been increasing my vocabulary around my family and (vanilla) friends, to include (some) lifestyle language. I had a life changing experience, actually, lol. It's not really fair to say I don't wish to discuss it after bringing it up. But I'm going to be unfair this time. Anyway...because of that, I made a sort of subconscious decision to blend them somehow, and in a way to expand communication with those I love. I haven't actually invited anyone to see my toys *ahem*.

A *vanilla* friend mentioned that his birthday was coming up and asked if I give birthday "spankings". lol Only if I get to pick what I spank with.

I have issues with this thread for the following reason.

I spend my entire life trying to look at things and extrapolating out to some weird sort of personal reality, usually with the idea in mind that I want to break the face.

Example:

There was a sign at a gas station here showing they had a talented mechanic on duty 24 hours a day.

An old relationship opined one day that she was wondering what his talent was, out at dinner with a bunch of people.

I chimed in that I thought he was a defector from the Kirov.

Several people blew wine out their nose they were laughing so hard.

I was once describing a friend of mine as the weirdest person I had ever met, and the co-worker I was discussing this with looked at me and said "That means a lot coming from you."

So to answer your question, I personally think most people in my life look at me like I am nuts.

Works for me.
