Yep. A nod from Straczynski to Bester.

Another of his books that is terrific is The Stars My Destination.

Hey Prized Possession

I've read and liked Vonnegut, but I must admit, he doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the sci-fi authors here. Well, Huxley doesn't either and I never could stand Orwell. (Why do people think he can write?- he's rather boring in my book.)

Anyhow- one of my favorite spoofs is Venus on the Half Shell- written by none other than Kilgore Trout- I've probably got a copy or two stashed somewhere. It's actually Phil Farmer using a pseudonym and some makeup with wig for the photo- but if you liked Vonnegut's character, you might get a kick out of this book.

Ah! Venus on the Half Shell! The tale of Simon Wagstaff, the space wanderer! Loved that book. I suggest it to as many folks who say they really wished there was more Douglas Adams' HHGTTG as I can. I also reccommend Star Smashers of the Galaxy Rangers by Harry Harrison, (a great parody of 1930's style SF) and Illegal Aliens by Nick Pollotta, and Phil Foglio. A very funny space opera in the "Trek" mold. Science fiction comedy is tough to come across, sometimes.

i had to go with Dick, and not because of the innuendo

i like most of the author's listed, but thought the imagery in writing style of Dick's work deserved my nod.

Since this is Part 2 I am sure the best have already been voted on.

Demolished Man is the best on this list IMO, not so H.

Of course part one in no particular order, Dune, Foundation Trilogy, Stranger in a Strange Land, Man in the High Castle and The Stars My Destination. Sorry to leave out many more but those are at the top.

The best Star Trek ep was from Ellison: City on the Edge of Forever.

I voted for Ringworld, but I'd have voted for PKD if you'd put Scanner in. Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep always struck me as real strong on concept and weak on execution: like most Dick.
