I avoid those conversations. Some of the people I spend time around are older than I. I don't want to be responsible for any coronary attacks.

Reminds me of a good demo story.

We were having this demo get together in a meeting room at a local motel.   There was a party for a lady's 75th birthday a few doors down.   Not wanting to freak out the nillas, I was playing door gaurd.

The extremely nicely dressed older lady comes to our door and I say, "I believe the birthday party is a few doors down."

"Young man!   Is this BDSM demonstration?"

"umm....uhhhh.......Yes ma'am it is."

"Then I will be going here."

I think she got the biggest kick out of stunning the young pups.

ok, that ROCKS!!  LOL

A friend and I walked into a bar, and saw a favorite bar maid, who was pleased to see us- she had a REAL prodom friend coming down. As she was telling us about how really freaky this girl was she mentioned that she had actually gone to a bullwhip seminar taught my some famous 'whip master'...

When she came in and introduced us, she was a little startled to learn that I had taught the class<g>.

the funniest part was actually as she waqs going on abou the friend, and mentioned the class, and F. looked at me and raised an eyebrow... I nodded, and we continued to listen to her gush...

There's nothing wrong with being a little vanilla actually shouldn't BDSM involvements start out somewhat vanilla leading in to the lifestyle after you trust each other and learn limits and such.I don't think playing right off is good scening or respectful of the other persons feelings. And what is kinky sex anyway.Anal sex,2 women and a man something taboo is that considered kinky.Years ago in the 60's french kissing was considered taboo/kinky what's up with that.

Some of my 'nilla friends understand some dont...some just think its funny...some are intrigued...my family...thats a whole other drama..LOL  Most of them think something is wrong with me the rest just think its from childhood trauma..LOLI dont go about telling co workers though...Im new this this clinic so it will take some time before I am comfortable involving them in "those" types of conversations...All in all most people know and let me be me..with out judgment or condemnation....I love my life...:)Pamela

junecleaver -> RE: Vanilla friends who fancy themselves kinky but don't really get it (1/28/2008 7:02:02 PM)

The few vanilla friends I have who know about my kinks really only understand the physical aspect.  They get why it's hot when he holds me down and roughs me up.  They can't seem to wrap their mind around my boyfriend bossing me around though.  I don't think they understand how important the mental dynamic is to me because they are prone to poke fun at it.  But I'm glad they are open minded to the sex part at least.

ArchangelMichael -> RE: Vanilla friends who fancy themselves kinky but don't really get it (1/28/2008 8:21:03 PM)

This reminds me of the time when I was at BDSM play party and this preppy-looking young guy was at the party and he asked us, "So, do ya'll have a gimp?"

And those of us who overheard just looked at him funny. Of course, he was referring to "The Gimp" from Pulp Fiction.

For some reason, this story reminds me of "Dodgeball" (and a rather yummy Christine Taylor in fetish clothes)

sunshinemiss -> RE: Vanilla friends who fancy themselves kinky but don't really get it (1/28/2008 9:05:28 PM)

Yeah... I use the word "coffin" and that usually ends the discussion.  (with a living Domme, btw)   and OHHHH.. I made a rhyme.

Daddysredhead -> RE: Vanilla friends who fancy themselves kinky but don't really get it (1/28/2008 9:17:02 PM)

One of my sweetest nilla friends knows about my "quirks" (lol, gotta love that), and says "My hubby and I are adventurous, too, sometimes I let him give me oral sex."  I always have to stifle a giggle with her adorable-ness.  When I told her something that Daddy and I had recently tried, all she could say was, "Oh my gosh!  You're crazy!"  [sm=hair.gif]   I said, "No, I'm not crazy, I'm kinky."  She then proceeded to tell me to have that put on a t-shirt.  [8|]

Your post made me laugh! Thank you. I am a happy person, but finding humor is sometimes rare. We are pretty new to the lifestyle and can identify with the difference between kink and BDSM. Everyone has always known that I'm a kinky, weird, crazy, etc. kinda person. Yet, I am still wondering just how open I can/should be with close friends and relatives.
I have always gone for the truth, shocking or not. Yet now, I am actually thinking of fabricating false stories to account for my time at munches, play parties, etc. Best idea yet, I joined a cult. Maybe, Christianity.

Reminds me of the old joke about two married women talking an one says oh our marriage has been great ever since we adopted S and M and the other woman says really, and the original one replies oh yes, he snores I masterbate

Again, I'm also not trying to sound like a 'twue' snob or anything. I just thought it was a cute miscomunication.

No I dont believe that...I dont start any relationship vanilla.....I jump in with little to no conversation....most of the time i dont want to talk I want to play....limits...well I can tell them in ten words or less....I also dont confuse me feelings with scening...they only come out to play if I am in a relationship....which I never am...since Im a poly switch...LOL  ***sorry reference from another thread***
I have no romantic views on my style of BDsM....your may be much different and thats OK :)we all have different views...and ways of life...Thats the best thing about this site...learning the differences of opinion and ways of life :)have a great morningPamela

RoughFN -> RE: Vanilla friends who fancy themselves kinky but don't really get it (1/29/2008 7:08:19 AM)

My sister and I know that each other has a few...quirks, but we don't know the specifics (and don't plan on finding out). But I have a vague inkling that she's at least a bit submissive and she has a vague inkling that I'm a bit dominant. Neither of us have any idea of the degree.

When she was in high school, she always used to complain about her friends and their ditzy relationships. They'd all be sitting around at lunch and swapping "sex" stories that consisted of nonsense like "tee hee! I kissed him on the cheek!" and "hee! We were in a movie last weekend and held hands THE WHOLE TIME!" She was really getting tired of it.

I suggested that the next time the conversation comes up, when it comes to her, just say in a rather meek voice, "Last weekend Josh handcuffed me to the bed and peed on me." She loved it and it apparently got quite a reaction. I never bothered to ask if he actually did it.

With me, when babe and I got back in touch back in August, we were chatting online and she said she had to go take a shower. I suggested she leave her webcam on. This completely threw her for a loop. Apparently, she tells me, I had never previously said anything even remotely sexual to her. Either referring to her or in general. And that little fairly benign comment was enough to have her fretting and wondering about it for days. Did I send it to the wrong person? Did I really want her to do that? Was it a mistake? Her mind was just swimming.

Lead to some more...interesting conversations and the rest is history.

As for the rest of my friends, I normally don't discuss my sex life with them. On occasion one of them shares a cute story of theirs or something they've done, and then I will inevitably chime in with a similar story of my own. Then they turn white and we never discuss anything sexual ever again. And it's not like I'm even sharing the really weird stuff. I'm still looking forward to the day when I hopefully discover that one of my vanilla friends actually also isn't and then we can have a lot more to talk about.

Asmodeus -> RE: Vanilla friends who fancy themselves kinky but don't really get it (1/29/2008 7:20:56 AM)

I've got a lot of gay & lesbian friends, quite a few of whom, when they first met me in social situations, would try to shock me.  Let me just say that my lifestyle makes them orders of magnitude more nervous then their lifestyle makes me.

Made some closer friends then you might have expected, though.  [:D]

viewfromthetop -> RE: Vanilla friends who fancy themselves kinky but don't really get it (1/29/2008 7:33:43 AM)

I've had some fun conversations with friends about this kind of thing. A buddy of mine will tell me about how his new girlfriend is kind of kinky and likes to bite him, or whatever. Then he'll mention "...but then again, Josh [another friend] keeps his girlfriend on a leash, sooo..."

Always good for a chuckle.

And lately my pet's been using this for laughs. His mom likes to try and creep him out by mentioning her sex life, which he will happily rebut by talking about ours. :D

Jim,
not sure what its like in your area but for me its real easy to say I'm in the goth scene. if anyone questions the kinky stuff I just mention that there is alot of crossover. but i'm just there for the music and dancing... Which is semi true. (thats how i started out...)
