PrincessEllie -> Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/28/2008 1:43:59 PM)

A while ago I realized that there were not many places to find discreet BDSM related clothing that one could wear every day. After a few days of pondering this, I made a cafepress account and I have had marginal success with people purchasing items I have designed. I have two designs, both alterations on the BDSM symbol which make it more artistic so you get both a nice shirt as well as a discreet way to explain your preferences.

I was wondering if any one of you had ideas for more designs I could do? If there is something you would really love to see on a shirt, I would be honored to give an attempt to design it, though I am not terribly artistic.

Here is the link if you'd like to see what I have done in the past to get an idea of what I am capable of producing. Any help at all on this matter would be lovely, thanks!

I like them.  Think they look great.  not obvious and can be worn anywhere.

Why thank you very much!

I love the buttons. Very nice work.

I'm glad you like them, it makes me happy. The reason I spent all my time designing these things was to give the lovely kinky people something to wear to show their pride without being fired from their job. I figure if the gay and lesbian community gets to wear their rainbows, then we should be able to wear the emblem.

I was really appauled at the sheer number of shirts for sale that said things like "cum slut" "fucking machine" etc. Do people wear those around their friends and family!? I think discreet clothing is a better way to do things, because it does not offend anyone and those in the know still understand your meaning.

They wear them to the grocery store where I work. I've even seen guys wearing them.

I like your designs too.  I think we're both trying to achieve the same thing.  Seems like evangelicals are hell-bent on turning the whole nation into one big bible belt.  It's a shame that people have to be so cautious what we wear.  It's like being underground in some kind of secret society in "the most democratic nation on Earth."  Even though the ideals make sense, most religions are stupid.  I'll never understand why people fight so hard to give up all their freedoms for something they don't even understand!!!

splitboxers -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/29/2008 9:32:48 PM)

Thought of something else.  Most of what I've seen advertised on wrestling shows like WWF, NWF, and mixed martial arts shows like UFC and Pride Fighting all have messages that strike me as BDSM.  It's not even SUBTLE!!!  But they have a better marketing strategy.  It all gets passed off as sport, but MUCH of it is sexually oriented.  For example, "Slap nuts."  It's all about domination and submission.

I used to have a buddy that wrestled with me all the time.  Powerful guy!  That's where I got the idea to try to tap into the same vein as those wrestling shows.  Seems like the same crowd in the audience as you might find HERE on Saturday nights!

Hey very nice! I especially like the green one.. which I may end up ordering lol. Sometimes this place is a hazard to my budget [:D].One question though, what is a 'light t-shirt'? Top row third over.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/30/2008 8:00:50 AM)

Fox and I saw a tee shirt at Walmart of al places, for Valentines day. It is a ball and chain with a heart in the ball and it simply says Taken.
While I know it isnt what they are refering to, itsa great BDSM shirt and one I am conisdering getting Fox. There are also several handcuff shirts that come out around now in various vanilla venues.  Valentines day always brings out the kink in people.

Have you considered a single stick-person on all fours? Or a small triskelion on the breast pocket-ish area that says either Yes Sir or Yes Maam under it?

I dig the designs with the stick figures on leashes, though it'd be nice to see some same-sex pairs in there. Just my $0.02.

Ryugen -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/30/2008 1:15:31 PM)

PrincessEllie, would you mind if I created a few designs that you could use on that cafe press account as well? I don't want any profit from them, just knowledge that someone out there may be wearing one [;)] I have a few ideas, but don't want to set up my own account in competition to yours. Of course, I'll show you what I have in mind after I've drafted the designs, but I was just wondering if you were open to the idea of taking on someone else's (mine) designs on the same account without having to pay any loyalties or anything.

PrincessEllie -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/30/2008 7:18:10 PM)

Gee whiz guys! I go to work for one day and this thread goes on steroids. I'm flattered. [:)]

Camille: I am not really sure. I think it comes in different colors and has a tighter fit on the male form, though. I am glad you like the designs so far.

DiurnalVampire: Hmm, I haven't considered the single person variety, mostly because it would be hard to differentiate gender. The emblem on a pocket is more possible though. Mostly why I don't have every design under the sun is because I own a free account since I started designing shirts to make those in the scene happy, and not to make a profit. I can only make one kind of each shirt.

Viewfromthetop: When I was making them, I absolutely thought about making same sex couples. But as stated above, I get one chance at each type of shirt and I'm trying to appeal to the widest audience. I love same-sex couples as much as anyone, but I unfortunatly don't have the resources to cater to them.

Ryugen: I'd love to see what designs you could possibly cook up. I've never been terribly artistic, and I'm sure that you could probably think of much better designs than mine.

AMaster -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/30/2008 10:01:16 PM)

Thank you. They are most interesting.  I might start wearing t-shirts now.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/30/2008 10:05:15 PM)

Ellie:
Thats the idea with the single person. You dont differentiate gender. Its just a generic person on all fours. Male or female, cant tell. Its the posture. Just an idea.

Good luck, I'll be looking forward to the updates :)

Ryugen -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/30/2008 10:33:04 PM)

Diurnal; click on the small images and you'll get a bigger view of the differing symbols. There's 2 types, one with a man on a collar with the girl holding the leash, and the other way around. Although the differences are subtle from a distance.

Shawn1066 -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/30/2008 10:46:10 PM)

No, there's no way of knowing if the characters are male or female.  It's just one person wearing pants and one person wearing a dress. :

With all the dressing in the lifestyle, there's no way of saying that the gender of the stick people! :-p

Oh, and my Owner was saying you could use a gender neutral stick figure for her proposed on all fours idea.  I'm pretty sure she noticed the difference in the current shirts.  That's how I read it, anyways.

camille65 -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/31/2008 4:39:55 AM)

Ellie, are the designs silk screened? Heh I bet you didn't expect a deluge of questions, but that means your designs are intriguing and exciting!I do intend to order at some point this month. Eeeep actually I mean Febuary as this month lol. How long are the t-shirts? It seems that so many t-shirts I buy are too short for me, short enough that I can't tuck them in. It may be handy to have that number posted. Looking fantastic though!

AtlantaMistress -> RE: Discreet BDSM T-shirts (1/31/2008 4:57:16 AM)

I love the T-Shirt - with the Woman having her boy on a leash - hoping to get one for my birthday from one of my boys >hint hint!

Also, considering the BDSM Emblem as a tattoo on the back of my neck, so I had researched it, thought I'd pass it along FYI:
What makes a Triskele a BDSM Emblem are the details:
  • The rims and spokes are of a color indicating a metal, which can be gold, iron or silver.
  • The rims and spokes are of uniform width with the arms rotating clockwise.
  • The inner fields are black.
  • The marks in the fields are holes (you should see the background through them) and not dots.
